The SCT comes with some standard tunes on it that you can use as far as i know. it just plugs into the diagnostic port on your truck or you can take to various diesel tuners and get some custom tunes made for your truck.

The SCT is easy to use and you can upgrade tunes from the various tuners out there like Innovative , John Wood , DJ's or Elite

The SCT also takes care of tuning the trans were the edge does not

Plug it into the diagnostic port under the dash and follow the directions.

You can also go to www.sctflash.com to download the software to install different tunes.

You can purchase tunes from various vendors , you get them in an email and then use the software to download them to your SCT.

I run Innovatives tunes, ran DJ's for a while but decided to change it up. I'd either get Innovatives xcal-2 or xcal-3; I haven't run Bills (dfusers) but here his tunes are good. The livewire seems to be a joke, there are too many problems with them-do a search on them on different boards and you will see. I'd recommend getting gauges; at the least pick up an EGT gauge because you will need it.

    SCT Tuner Questions

I hear everyone talking about how good Eric at Innovative is but how do I get a hold of him? I've called Innovative several times and I only get a stupid answering machine, then several days I get a call from someone else that leaves a message for me but I can never get a hold of anyone. Only the answering machines.
I have an 04 and I'm wanting to get an SCT but have some questions as to which tunes I should get. Will the stock tunes be fine for me? I already have a Voolant intake and RBP catback. I'm not looking to race or smoke my tires, i just want a little more power for daily driving and get better gas milage. I also would like to be able to have some more power when I occasionally tow my jeep. I've heard that runing the sportier tunes, but driving it normal will net the best milage gains (better than the economy tune). Anyone have experience with this? I'm running 35's on 4.5 inches of lift and I have a fiberglass camper shell, getting about 13-14.5 mpg's.

i have sold a lot of SCT's with erics tunes and i can honestly say that the stock tunes are great but nothing compares to the seat in your pants performance off the extreme tunes...

but you also need to run gauges... and i didnt see you say you had those...

so here is a link to our SCT/gauge combo: http://www.stealth-automotive.com/sc...combo-kit.html

if you have any questions about it let me know

    SCT questions

Thanks for the info. I will indeed need gauges as well. That seems to be a pretty reasonable price. How much should I expect for the gauges and sending units installed? I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. I realize what needs to be done but could not do it myself.
Also, what custom tune-s should I get? Like I said, I don't want to race or hot rod my truck. I just want it to have a little more power for daily driving and a towing tune for the occasions when I tow (jeep and trailer maybe 8000lbs max). Do the economy tunes rob power? Or is it true that the sport tunes, driven reasonable, give the better mileage?
I know that I'm taking a chance voiding my warranty but if I drive it reasonable, what are my chances of screwing up my engine?

i would just go with the standard custom tunes which are econo, street, and tow....

a lot of people get better MPG on the higher settings as long as you keep your foot out of it....

it mostly depends on the driver...

the tuner is super easy to install... look under the documentation section on my website and i have a SCT install guide on their...

as far as the gauges go you could pay anywhere from 380-500 bucks to install them depending on where you go....

    hope this helps
