Thread: Another John Wood believer

Friday morning I fueled up at 6:45, picked up my buddy and headed to holtville. 4 1/2 hours later we pulled into Johns shop. John was as hospitable as always, gave us a tour of the shop and explained all the projects he had going on. I have read others stories about how great his trannys are, but believe me when I tell you that you will not understand how much better than stock his units are until you see the upgrades he does in person. I was there to pick up a tuner that I won in the raffle at sunrise. John told me he could ship it to me but there is no way I would pass up a chance to check out his shop. I love taking my truck on road trips so needless to say I had a great day. Even though John didn't make a dime on this transaction he took between 2-3 hours out of his busy day to walk me through the shop, install my tuner and even took it for a blast to make sure everything was working OK. He even recalibrated my speedo for me. Oh and the tuner..... DAMN!!!! John set it to 100hp and putted around, checking the shifts and watching the egt's. He turns the truck back over to me for the drive back. I stand on the throttle from a dead stop with three guys and 3/4 tank of gas and the truck hazes the 35's all the way through first gear without a break torque. This is the same truck that wouldn't break'em loose with a break torque before the tune. To say Im happy is an understatement.
John, I cant thank you enough for giving me a truck that is a ton of fun to drive, or should I say 3 1/2 tons of fun. If you guys need anything Ford truck related, John will not disappoint.

Unlike that old AAMCO commercial with the chimpanzees hitting a trans with baseball bats, Mr. Wood can build something very specific for whatever your needs are...even for "Cave Tom" and his big 'ol truck on 44 inch Fred Flinstone steamroller stock.

For the right price ill beat up Johns trannies with a bat? $75 per hour outta cover it!

Do any of you guys have a phone number for Mr. Wood. If this is the Holtville I'm thinking of his shop is only about an hour from where I live does he do the SCT costum tunes also??

John is "The Man" when it comes to the SCT tuner and bullet proof trannys.

I can now truly say I am a John Woods believer. I'm running the Edge/Attitude Module and we all know the shifting is terrible. I've already smoked one tranny, So I don't really want to replace another one any time soon. Well, even though he was extremely busy he spent about 2.5 hrs tuning and testing the truck until he got it just right. Needless to say I was impressed and the truck is shifting perfectly now even on LEVEL 5 It's awesome!!!
