Ok, so here is the deal. Ford Dealer overfilled my trans, work order states they filled it with Dexron. From research it seems that Dexron and Mercon are essentially the same thing. So trans was getting got and started to slip took it to the shop and stated they had over filled it. And they came back and said over filling would not hurt it and would actually make it run cooler. I think this is a load of crap... If over filled doesn't it get fluid up into the mechanicals which then mixes the fluid into a froth that causes cavitation which will generate heat because the parts aren't properly lubed? Any how they now state the it is in fact my torque converter. Any how I need a trans pro to let me know if the overfilling and the dexron instead of mercon could cause my problems. IE is it Fords fault for the trans failure.

Its my understanding that ford changed merconV to be used in mercon vehichles but original merconV vehicles cannot use mercon/dexronIII. Ford doesn't have mercon/dexronIII anymore but valvoline still sells it at the local parts store. Seems weird to me. But from your original post you may have a issue with the dealer overfilling your trans.
