When to start raising hell? Who's done DSB?

I have known that any new model/engine can have it's issue's but figured Ford wouldn't release anything this bad. My first Ford truck, I bought a new 2003 F350 6.0 last Feb/Mar and have had the following problems:
    1. The alternator went out at 400 miles
    2. At 2200 miles the truck wouldn't start due to a valve in the oil system being stuck shut, wouldn't build up oil pressure to fire injectors. Left me stranded and pissed. Took the dealership & regional rep almost 2 weeks to troubleshoot.
3.Rear pinion seal was leaking at 10400 miles.
4.On the way to work yesterday merging onto the hwy the truck would idle but not accelerate, again stranded & pissed. Dealer said the EGR valve & 2 fuel injectors need to be replaced. This happened at 10800 miles.

I have inquired about the DSB process and have the paperwork but wanted to get opinions from other members who have had there truck bought back. According to the criteria, I don't yet meet them but am getting increasingly pissed off & am really wondering if I can depend on my truck?? What input can anyone give me? I love the truck but just want to know that it is reliable. Thanks for any help

I think someone here did get a buy back and another just traded it in. The '03 buy backs were easier, but ford won't buy back a truck as readily now.

Some time ago my wife and I had a Linclon Cont. that had to be bought back. We started the process by sending a letter to Ford Motor Co. In Michigan. Just tell them how you feel and what a die hard Ford Man you are, and send copies of your repairs. It did it for us. They bought back the car and put us into a new ford.

I just finished mine. My new truck is waiting on the paperwork. My dealership backed me 100%. Make sure that you document everything and you have all of the receipts. Make sure that you call the Ford hotline and make a case # with all of your concerns. Stay calm and cool as it does make a difference. Mine did get a little screwed up at one time but it all got ironed out. I know it is frustrating but you have to keep you cool. When I filed, I wrote a 3 page letter with all of my concerns and disgust. Again, document, document document. Good luck.

I feel for ya.....I was in the same boat.

But I gave up on it...and traded it in.

If you can Ford to take it back...more power to ya...but it can be a lengthy process.

You mentioned that you wrote a long letter to FORD. My dealer is telling me that Ford has nothing to do with making the decision to do the buy back but DSB (which from what i've been told is a state or federal agency) is in total control of that and Ford has to go by there decision once made. Is this true? Or does the dealership/Ford Corp. have a decision in this? If so I will write to them but from what i've been told they don't???

What # is the Ford hot line?

    Thanks for the input

In my case I didn't want to have someone type my concerns/gripes. So I decided to write to Ford. Then someone also told me to call the hotline. Because my case was solid, Ford called me before the DSB hearing and offered me. I didn't work out the way I wanted it to go, so I went to DSB. Yes, Ford has to do whatever the DSB finds. If your case is not solid it will not be accepted. You can look in your owners book or go on the Ford website and do a search for DSB. Good luck.

Re: When to start raising [censored]? Who's done DSB?

I am in the final stages of a DSB-ordered buy-back. It is not 100% to my satisfaction, but it's better than giving a lawyer half my life savings. Ford refuses to replace the vehicle with a 2005, and there aren't any 2004's equipped the way I want it (I factory-ordered mine). So, I am being given a refund and will have to order a new 2005 (and eat the cost of replacing the steps, loose the $1,500 rebate, and pay much more than the $500-under-invoice which I got on the 2004. All in all, it will cost me between $3,000 and $4,000, but I'll have a year-newer truck out of the deal.)

I wrote several letters to Ford Motor Company, always emphasizing my brand loyalty and desire for nothing more than another great Ford - they refered me back to the dealership . (The same dealership which showed complete apathy throughout the entire process.)

I have become so pissed off at Ford that I test drove the GMCs and the Dodges this weekend. I'll be ordering the F-350 this week.
