    Re: 97 powerstroke

I got the AFE intake..very nice baffling and finish. A paper filter (tymar or equivalent) can be had for around a $100 (r less if you make the tubing yourself).

I found not much power gain, but lower egt's. You will hear the turbo, and frankly it is annoying for a few days until you get used to it.

I made my own open element filter using the big Donaldson filter that Dale I uses. I actually bought the filter from him as it was cheaper than any local dealer that could get it.

"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out." Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

I've also got an open element system (based on the TYMAR ... see pic in signature). Get rid of the stock airbox!!!! Cheers!

    Re: 97 powerstroke

thanks alot for the suggestions on the intake, i think im gonna go with the tymar, i guess its around a $120 or so, i was going to get gauges and a down pipe, i was told the stock exhaust is pretty good, but im also looking for a system, im gonna have john woods do the tranny pretty soon, i just did the vacuum pump, cam sensor, glow plug solenoid, right front wheel bearings, but the truck has 125,000 miles on it, i guess you expect things like that. thanks again... jd

    Re: 97 powerstroke

The stock exhaust is not that good , I would look into a complete system

And a very good choice for the tranny work
