Washboard ride on 118 B/T Balboa and De Soto

I need to do something to my truck so that I don't give my kids "Shaken Baby Syndrome".

The main issue I have is on the 118 between Balboa and Porter Ranch Drive, a stretch of highway I have to take nearly every day. It is the worst on the Eastbound direction, any lane. That section of highway is so bumpy in my truck that I have to avoid it if I am driving with my kids. Otherwise, the truck rides and handles great.

Does anyone/everyone else have the same issues on the 118 between Balboa Blvd and De Soto?

Does anyone have a smooth ride through that stretch of highway in their Superduty? I used to have a Cadillac Escalade EXT that was quite smooth through there and never noticed any washboard effect.

ahh man ... i have dealt with that in my f150 and all of my superduty's..it sucks. i can tell you my 08 with the longer rear leafs made it a lot better...not completely gone, but a heck of a lot better..well worth the sticker price right there!!

It is interesting that you mention that because the guys at Carli Suspension suggested I install the 08 Superduty Deaver leaf springs to help the ride. They state they have done this conversion several times by relocating the front hangers forward.

So, does your 08 ride that much better due to the longer rear leaf springs or could it be anything else? If the longer leafs are the answer, then that is what I am going to do next to help out the ride.

I believe it will be around $2K for the conversion including the Deaver Leafs. If you ever have time to take me for a ride on this stretch of highway to see what the 08 Superduty feels like, let me know. Otherwise, the next time I have a free afternoon, I will head over to Galpin and take one for a test drive. Hopefully they won't mind me taking it for such an extensive test drive.
