Question Oil Leak / Diesel shop

I have discovered an oil leak. It isn't leaving any spots, but when I check the oil it is low, fill it up drive 3000 miles and it is low again. Checked the valley and it is dry the HPOP is dry and clean. I looked underneath and it is coming from the back, I am assuming it is the Turbo Pedestal or EBP.

I don't have a place to do the work, (I got in trouble last time I changed my oil in my Apt garage). I live in West LA, besides the useless dealerships where is the nearest good diesel shop who would do a good job? How much should I expect to pay for this repair?

Since the turbo will have to come out, is there any upgrades I can do or have done that won't cost me an arm and a leg that I should do while i am at it? Any one tried the Wicked Wheel?

Thanks to everyone in advance, I don't post much of anything but it was fun to go to the meeting and put some names to faces!!

Check to be sure the turbo is ok first, sometimes people don't notice that they are losing oil through the turbo. That'd be the first place I'd check if your losing oil and can't find a leak. It's a lot easier to see on a gas engine because you'll see it in the exhaust but diesels work different and smoke on their own as is.

yeah..no biggy. what orng said is right..sometimes the turbo itself may be the problem. i cant say ive seen the pedistal o-rings leak on their own, they usually leak after you remove and replace it . the crappy thing is there is no room, no light, and so much stuff on the back of the motor it can be difficult to locate the exact source of the problem. maybe you can spray a bunch of degreaser on the back of the motor , run it a bit, then inspect again...that may help.

Reminds me when I was looking for my leak on the back of the HPOP. I washed the engine with degreaser more than a few times in a week. It's still clean today so that makes me happy. Even after you think you repaired the problem clean it again.

Put some engine oil dye in there. I have some and also the special glasses and flashlight you need to see it if you want to borrow them.
