I have a 2003 6.0L F250 automatic. So I started the truck this morning and back out of the driveway and dropped it in to drive and the whole instrument cluster went dead. I assumed that I blew a fuse, but when I checked the owners manual and checked all the fuses that were marked "Instrument Cluster" (#4, #35, #41) and they were all good. Looked under the hood and saw some mouse tracks and thought a mouse might have eaten a wire and now it snapped!!
With the help of Bobby Williams and the great guys at Sunrise Ford they told me to check the #45 fuse that was labeled "Ignition Switch". Sure enough that fuse was blown. I didn't think to check that one because the truck started and ran just fine. Apparently the #45 fuse is the key on power for the instrument cluster. Problem solved!! :jump:
One other side note, since this was my first blown fuse on this truck I found out that there were not any spare fuses in the fuse box like the older cars that I had. If it was a major fuse that controlled the engine or something important, I would be stripping fuses from something less important to get the truck running. :smash: The truck uses the newer "mini" fuses that I didn't have in my garage. I now have a mini fuse kit in the glove box just in case.![]()
