    Joe Blow vs. Sunrise Ford

    Hi Guys,

I ususally post on another FORD site....someone suggested I post here to tell you about how the dealer is trying to screw me again. Well, they did. Kinda long winded, but I'll try to paraphrase.

I have s 2004 PSD with NO TUNER....4" exhaust, AFE intake and a STANDALONE a-pillar gauge that is just that standalone (or can be used with a quadzilla module). I installed this gauge to read EGT's, trans, coolant and boost since I tow a 5th wheel and boat.

My truck had been throwing MAP senser codes for months now, with intermittent major loss of power, figured it was time to take it in. I have had a past with SUnrise FORD. This is when they did my headgaskets and the IDIOT tech that should be shot and dragged behind a truck left my truck in shambles. Sunrise did step up to the plate and give me my deductible back and a major service, which was cool. I went back for the convenience and to give them another shot. Well they took it.

Anyway, back to the post. The day I dropped it off the service writer calls me and tells me that the "Quadzilla tuner you have will void your warranty" I explained (like I do everytime) that it is not chipped and how the monitor is standalone. Problem solved

An hour later I get another call from the service writer telling me that the tech took the vehicle out and he feels that my Quadzilla gauge is messing with the MAP sensor and fooling it into a lean schedule...I started laughing at him. I called Quadzilla, they laughed.

It was late in the day so I left it there since the tech had gone home. I got up the next day and began to research, since I knew what was about to transpire. I called the service writer back, he explains that there were new developments in my truck. Supposedly the TECH called Quadzilla. On the gauge the rectangular display is divided into 4 for the values to be read. In the middle there is a circled # (I've never noticed) that denotes what TUNING setting when used in conjunction with a Quadzilla tuner.

THEY DENIED ME WARRANTY BASED ON THAT. What the idiotic P.O.S. technician failed to ask (I called Quadzilla immediately after) is that by depressing the middle two of four buttons the number can be changed, regardless of tuner or not. I obviously must have changed the number when I was initially setting up the monitor, navigating through the menus.

I bought a MAP sensor, fixed my truck (AGAIN). I called the service writer who's name is Donald Wheelerand I'm pretty certain I made him feel stupid with this information. I asked him to relay the message to the tech who's name is Michael Wurst. I would have called him also if I could have.

SUNRISE FORD SCREWED AN HONEST FIREFIGHTER OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE THE TECH WAS TOO STUPID AND UNPROFESSIONAL TO ASK A TECH HOTLINE THE CORRECT QUESTIONS TO DELIVER CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I am officially done with this dealership. I WILL BADMOUTH THIS DEALERSHIP AS LONG AS I HAVE WIND IN MY LUNGS. I HAVE 15 FRIENDS AT WORK THAT USED TO GO THERE. SINCE MY HEADGASKET INCIDENT. THEY DON'T. Those friends tell more friends etc etc. POWER OF VERBAL ADVERTISING.

Thought I'd share that with you guys. Please pass it on.
Sorry, but I tried to keep it as short as possible.

IF ANYONE FROM SUNRISE FORD READS THIS AND HAS THE B*LLS TO CALL ME, YOU GUYS HAVE MY NUMBER.

    See Ya

Be sure and make this into a letter for their service manager, I am starting to dislike sunrise myself by the complaints of their customer service. Oh and also make a copy to send to ford customer service.

    Matt,

Joe Blow is indeed for real. I don't recall the details of his last incident with Sunrise Ford, but will dig up my notes to refresh my memory. I am sure there are more details besides what has been posted, just like the last time he had an issue with Sunrise Ford. I got involved the last time he bad mouthed Sunrise Ford on one of the other forums and got things cleared up and I'll try and do the same this time.

You are the boss Bobby. I hope you can help him out with the issue. Now that you state that you know who this is I will let it be. His anonymous post led me to believe he was just bashing sunrise. But as I stated above that you indeed know who this is, I hope you can help him.

Ford has every right to decline warranty if there are any aftermarket parts on the vehicle. It says this in the manual in the glovebox. It does seem extreme in this case and they should have called you to discuss this. I've heard stories of Ford reps declining warranties on trucks with Banks Power stickers. You should have just removed the commander.

There is already a law in place that states that you can use aftermarket parts as replacement parts and not be voided. They also have to specifically prove that the part actually caused the damage to denny the claim. I went over this with the Mazda dealer when I broke a few parts and they claimed my boost gauge caused the LSD to break the trans.

That act was never intended to cover the use of high performance add-ons. It was actually for the use of of non manafacturer parts such as oil, filters, tires, brakes, and things of that nature. It was never intended to cover parts like Banks, Edge, and so on. I know the techs there and when I took my truck to them for work, I made sure I removed everything I could to protect my warranty. Maybe he should have done the same.

I just talked to Michelle in Customer service and she gave me the option of having an engineer look at my truck. What a waste of time. This dealership is a joke.
I will make every effort for this dealership to lose business with my word of mouth advertising. I am not going any further with this. It is not worth my time at this point....... with 2 months of warranty left?????? NOPE.

Bobby Williams indeed help me last time. My post from the other forum in 2007:

[I took my 04 PSD in last week for head gaskets under warranty to Sunrise Ford in Fontana Ca. The truck was completed in 1 week.

I picked up the truck at 7pm late this week. This is what I found.

-Oil/Coolant ALL OVER my front suspension. shocks, sway bar and differential
-Wiring loom left up against the turbo so it can melt within a week
-Fuel line safety retention clip undone and ready to fall off
-Wiring (that I neatly put in split loom and secured/routed) torn apart as if stretched to reveal contents in loom
-A main harness that feeds my backup lights and the center 7 pin plug with power, which would not allow me to back up my boat (electric brakes would not disengage) so I had to use the wedge in the trailer tongue to do it. Emberrasing when you are jacknifed in the street with cars coming at you...pissed!
    - oil stain on rear seat
    -STOLEN IPOD charger
    -Stolen chrome valve stem caps
    -Stolen knife

I cleaned the vehicle, repaired all wiring and secured loose ends. The last straw was today when I found the unplugged reverse power harness.]

Typical Customer Service. I have dealt with the IDIOT manager I just talked to in customer service. She was worthless also in the front end noise when I complained in 2004.

[I had a loud clunk that seemed to come from the front end. I was at Sunrise 4-5 times for the clunk in 2004. They had no idea what to do....I was a pain in their a$$. I recall the front end tech telling me (off duty) he recalls the service writer and the service manager standing behind a wall worrying about how they were going to get rid of me (true story). The front end guy VOLUNTEERED to look at my truck. Took me for a ride and diagnosed it in 10 minutes......The driveline splines were binding and would clunk from reverse to forward travel, common problem and TSB noone bothered looking up until that day.]

You know, the bummer about this whole situation is that there are probably good techs and good people at Sunrise Ford. Unfortunately I get involved with the galactically stupid ones. Please DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP. I heard Hemborg FORD has "sharp" TECHNICIANS.

    Take Care.:jawdrop:
