    New Turbo cost????

With 167,000 mi. on the original turbo, I am begining to think about saving up some $$$ for a replacement.
I looked around the web a little and it would probably be around $2,000.
I would replace it with a stock one, after all, it has lasted this long and still going.
Any sugestions from you folks would be appriciated.

$2000 is a lot of money for a stock turbo. That is even more than a GTP38R ball bearing unit. If you want to go stock, give Beans a call. They have a stocker for $725. SEE IT HERE

But if 2K is your budget, get the ATS ported compressor housing installed on that turbo. Beans sells that as well and without going to an aftermarket turbo, that will be the best turbo for your truck.

If your going with a stock turbo I'd get mine rebuilt, there are a few shops that rebuild turbos in L.A. I always use Custom Turbo in Santa Fe Springs. They usually have that turbo in stock.

Wouldn't that turbo not work for his truck, thought there was a difference from early 99 and late 99-03

    Thanks for the information,
I will keep Beans and Custom Turbo in the file. Maybe my original turbo has many more miles left. I will put around $800. aside just in case.

If you need to have your turbo rebuilt let me know and I'll call Custom for you, I Know them pretty well. It shouldn't be to much more than around $400-500

What about the 6.0? I didn't see anything on Bean's about them.

I imagine because they are just to expensive. The cheaper option may be to upgrade.

In all reality I bet your turbo is doing just fine. Unless you have huge injectors and the air filter fell off and let dirt in for a year your turbo should be just fine.
