i already have the code but thank you you anyway but i drove the truck today and a few days ago it seems to be intermetinent so i dont know if there is actually a problem or not with cylinder 8. i forgot to mention that the turbo was rebuilt and it think that they may have lenghtend the actuator rod but im not positive thank you for all ur help though and for the very quick reply

I think you want to clear the code, run the truck and see if it sets again. Cylinder #8 misfire. Could be nothing or wiring harness or inejctor IMO. I guess that is where a scan tool comes in handy. You can clear the code and see what happens. Then research what the cause could be...

There are others on here that know more than I do. Perhaps someone will chime in that has seen this.

We could run a buzz test and cylinder contribution and see if it passes. That would tell a lot.

I think the cylinder contribution test would be a good one to run. That would let you know if it is an injector issue, or at least give you a little insight. That being said, the #8 injector has a tendency to not run quite as well as the other cylinders because of the dead head in the factory fuel system. If the issue is intermittent, it could be the UVC(under valve cover) harness. Might be starting to go bad and just not working all the time.

If you get the harness out ohm out all the wires and be sure to wiggle each one to check for a short. Also check fuel pressure as that can cause an a misfire too. Besure and do the buss test to make sure the solenoids work and watch the tach to make sure each sweep of the tach is the same.

Does the tach sweep on the Buzz test? If so, I didn't know that....something I'll have to look at the next time.

As it buzzes the injectors the tach goes up. The nice thing is the buzz test will tell you if your injectors are working so if you still fail the cylinder contribution test then something else may be wrong like a valve or push rod...
With the stock fuel system #8 can read low sometimes anyway.
