Thread: sheds!!

    sheds!!

well we got our new house last thursday and now i ahve a around 1/2 acre behind the house where can build stuff :) since we downgraded in house size but upsized in lot i lost my office :( im thinking of building a shed out back so i can disconnect my office from the house...

i had been searchign things like tuff sheds but man are those things expensive esp for a good sized one.... then i started to just look for plans online.... i have found 2 i like.. 1 is around 300sqft but will require a cement base (which will also require permits which i dont want to do) the second is smaller (16x10) and will not require a slab so im thinking of leaning towards this one....

here is the link for the smaller one: http://www.designer-shed-plans.com/2315.htm

and then the big one: http://www.designer-shed-plans.com/2345.htm

i already bought the plans for the smaller one but i still keep looking at the big one....only reason i dont want the big one is because if i need to get inspections its going to raise the value of the house since it will be permitted which will raise my property taxes :(

im feeling that the smaller one will be to small for my office/packaging section

where the bigger one is big enough for my office and most of my tools too... if not ill have to build another shed just for my tools.... im very confused so would like your guys inputs on what you would go with... obviously the bigger one will cost more to build... according to the plans i can build the smaller one with around 2k and the bigger one will be in the 6k+ range

this is my first shed/office so im a newbie to this...

got any pics of that storage shed... i still need a shed for all my construction tools.....

and yah im still waiting to build my dream garage all the way in the back sometime next year... i found the one i want which is 30ftx60 with 21ft high ... but that is gonna be a lot of coin lol....

one good thing is with all the demo im doing on the house i have been saving every piece of 2x4 i could get out of it to build the shed :)

dont think youll be able to do the small one for 2k. maybe im missing something. i built a 9x12, did it myself with a lil help and think it cost me around 1k and its just a simple shed.

almost forgot. do the concrete. youll regret wooden skids

i went to a lumber yard today... with the new inflated costs its looking to cost me around 3k without the doors or windows... that doesnt include a cement base if i do that.... only reason i want it on skids is because i might have to move it later... planning on building a guest house somewhere in the back and it might take up too much space....

im def doing it but i think im gonna modify the plans and make it a lil longer... prob somewhere like 10x18 or 12x16... same sq foot but just need to look at space available....

    Thumbs up

    I'd second Richard's container idea.
What is your time worth?? Building the shed or make a phone call and it's delivered!!

Even if it costs more upfront, you will make out cost wise in the long term.

Or do like my dad did and build them into the garage. He has 2 40' containers built into his shop. He uses the roofs of both of them for storage and he insulated and air conditioned one.
