6.0 with Bad injectors 2 months out of warranty

My truck is sluggish and has a rough Idle. I took it to an independent shop and they pulled the code for #7 injector problems. They said take it to the dealer...it is covered for 100k miles.

Took it to the dealer yesterday....and found out it was purchased in Feb 2003...making it 2 months out of warranty and I only have 47,000 miles. I asked if they would goodwill it...with such low miles..and my service writer...said of course not. Maybe closer to the 3yr/36 but not at 5 years.
Does anyone have an idea how to get the injector replaced under warranty?

    Thank you

I doubt it. Did you have a cel? I'd try some fuel additive for a couple tanks and hope it helps.

That is a good idea. I've heard of some good stories but also of some horror stories. Also, I would get a copy of your oasis just for piece of mind that it was actually sold in February.

An oasis report is from Ford showing all work done to your truck including recalls, TSB work, etc.

I think you are out of luck, but take a close look at your warranty guide anyway. Some emissions components are covered for 7 years/70,000 miles on California trucks. I just looked at my warranty guide however, and the injectors on diesel motors is an exception and only covered for 5/100k. So like I said, probably out of luck. But then, it might not actually be the injector, but something else in the "injection system"

But anytime you have warranty questions, be sure to look very carefully at the emissions portion of the warranty guide. The dealers won't always know or volunteer the info until you point it out.

Well.... I called the Ford Hotline. They needed to do some research and speak with the dealership where the truck is at. She called back and said due to the fact that there is some biodiesel in there and we can't say that did or did not cause the problem.....we are not going to help you out.

Needless to say I was extremely disappointed...and called my service writer expecting to tell him...I am on my way to pick it up and get it fixed somewhere else....

His attitude and understanding was great. He had already spoke with his Service manager and they worked with me on the price and will have the truck done today.

    Thank you

Ford did say it was OK...and couldn't prove that caused the injector to fail. They initially failed to cover it becuase it was 2 months past the 5yr date. Fortunately because I got ahold of the Oasis report I found it had an Extended Service Plan....and it will now be covered.

Also I found that the ESP is transferable for only $50. I will have a full warranty now until Feb of 2009 for $50....what a deal.
