    Air horns

I been told to get to the horn you have to take out the battery box and inter fender well liner. I see there is wire harness on the inter fender liner and was wondering ( hoping) that the horn wire passes through there. Anyone know?

When I did my Air horn system(Grover Airhorns), I went to wire harness under dash near the steering column. Once I located the horn relay trigger wire, I cut it and ran it to a 2 way rocker switch I mounted on the left side of dash. With the switch in one position the stock horn sounds, and with it in the other position, the signal is sent to the selonoid valve for the air horns. This way I can still have the option of which horn to blast. Needless to say it is always in the airhorn position! I forgot the wire color that you will be looking for but I did get that information here at the website. Good luck.

That's what I did when I had air horns on my El Camino. It's nice to have the option of which horn to blast with the stock horn button. Also, if you ever get in a situation where you have to allow an official to test your horn, it's a good idea to have the stock one hooked up.

if you have AUX switches run them to those. Then if you ever get pulled over for being to horny you can just tell the officer that he is hearing stuff!

i run my compressor on AUX 1 and AUX 2 hits the loudness!

my buddies silverado has them hidden

    Gents,
I've been looking at doing airhorns for about 6 months and I really like the ideas I've read about here. What system offers the most bang/buck?
I've looked at Wolo's, Hadley's, and some other brands too.
I was thinking of spending about $500 for the whole deal.
Even though I consider myself to be mechanically hip, I'd rather have someone else do the job. Things with electricity scare me. Had a bad experience as a little guy with some serious power. Story for another time.
    Ideas? Opinions?
    Thanks in advance.

build your own! I built mine for around 700. I got a 5 gallon tank, a full duty Vivair compressor and 1/2 line, usually people use 3/8 inch, but the 1/2 inch is a little more expensive, the solenoid alone was $96. For the horns, i bought train horn replicas (almost knock off but they were still $260) they are loud and i honked next to an Amtrak train one day and your couldnt tell the difference!

    Hey there MXChase,
Is your name Chase and you ride MX. I've never heard of a chasetruck for a MX track before. I work in the MC industry, and living in San Diego, when somebody says chasetruck, my brain heads south of the border. Baja is a wonderful place to ride. Usual rides are 150 miles each way.
You take everything you even think you might need on your bike/back.
Been down there with no chase truck, and had a buddy ass over teakettle himself and cracked the block. Out came the tools, the JB weld, and in about an hour we were back on the trail. Even carry a little bottle of oil.
But back to airhorns. I could do $700 even though I don't need train horns, it's the install that troubles me. Not the mounting of the horn or tank or running the lines, but the wiring when the job heads inside the cab. Again, it's a fear of electricity thing.
I guess I could take it to the local shop and have them install it. I wonder what they'd ask for labor for a job like that? 3 hours maybe? Ideas?
    Thanks again.
