    Sled pull in our area

I was asked to help spread the word for this,
Was wondering if you could help spread the word. There is going to be a big Sled Pull up here at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. Date in June 14th and 15th. the pull will be on the 14th. I will paste the details here. They came to Craig and I to help organize it cause they have never done one before. Craig has already got Scheid to come out. I talked to Kevin from Diesel World Mag today and they have agreed to cover the event. Trucking 4 kids will be 300 trucks strong for the weekend too. Here are most of the details.
Date: Sat, June 14th, Lancaster Ca. Fairgrounds. New Sled Pull event.
Ok, here are a bunch of the details. I am going to copy and paste so I don't leave anything out.
First of all, this is all for Kids charities They are raffling off numerous things including the Grand Prize, a 2008 105th anniversary edition Harley-Davidson StreetGlide motorcycle.
A complete Softtub from Ideal Spa. Custom Harley Davidson Vending Machine from The Spa Shop Inc. 08 Polaris Phoenix 200 Quad from Palmdale Supercycle. ETC.
Events will include a Bike Show, Classic Car show, Import Car show, Entertainment concerts including Foghat a 1970's band, Food and of course BEER! Kid's Area/ Carnival, Poker Run and a Poker Tournament, Alternative Fuel Expo, Trucking 4 Kids Charity Truck show and shine, Burnout contest, and of course the Sled Pull. They will have a huge vendor area for the Diesel vendors and it will be located close to the pull and the big Truck area. 50% of all Diesel related vendor booths fees will go to a purse for the pull. ALL participants will have a chance to win purse money. There will be TV coverage and Radio coverage and advertising and they have a professional announcer for the pull. The grandstands hold over 10 thousand people and are expected to be packed. There is only a $5.00 charge to come watch and that includes the Band too after the pull so it is vary affordable for family's to come and watch.
Remember this is all for Charity for Kids.
This event is the second largest charity motorcycle event West of the Mississippi, second only to the Love Ride.
Registration for the pull is $30 and that gets you a T shirt as well. The pull will be on Sat, June 14th and it starts about 4:00 p.m. Gates will open at 3:00 I believe.
Although they are supposed to have an updated web site by this week, you can still go to Thunder on the Lot: Main event June 15th and they have a Registration form you can fill out and fax in. The more people who plan to pull that register in advance the better.
Thunder on the Lot has been going on for the last 14 years and they are growing every year. This will be one Awesome event and they are planning to do it every year as long as it makes money to help the Kids Charities.
So the more people who come out to support it the better it will be and the more it helps the kids. Plus it will be 3 and a half hours of diesel fun.
They will be giving away ( raffling off, $100 per ticket) a 2008 harley motorcycle, and a bunch of other stuff too. Check out the web site for any details I missed.
Thanks a bunch. Hope you can make it for the pull.

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said:
"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out." Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
    1. Jesus Christ
    2. The American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Here is an update fom Craig

Come out to the Antelope Valley on June 14th for the thunder on the lot event in So Cal. The problem of purses is solved - there will be 2 classes, a street class (exact rules tbd) with a $1,000 minimum purse, and a mod class(exact rules tbd) also with a $1,000. that will be $500 to 1st, $300 to 2nd, and $200 to 3rd - both classes. The reason the purse is a minimum, is that it will go up based on how many Diesel Performance industry, vendors attend, as half of those funds go toward the purse, the other half toward charity as this is a 100% charity event. Now that is looking out for the pullers! Then for those guys who are overweight, or intimidated to run against serious pull trucks, there will be a run for fun exhibition class. Assuiming safety, anyone can pull.
The other problem we have handled is spectators - Last year, the thunder on the lot event drew approx. 25,000 people over sat. evening and Sunday. This year, they expect closer to 35,000. The pull itself is on Sat. evening and is expected to have a grandstand crowd of up to 10,000. This is good for the pull itself as it puts pulling in front of a lot of people, but also addresses the other issue with Vendor Support. Their booth fees cover them for Saturday as well as all day Sunday where they will have the exposure of the full event, not just of those there to see the pulls.

This event is important because it is a large event in its 14th year that continues to grow - and THEY made the decision to add a pull for 2008 - this means we have someones attention. If we can make this first year, reasonably successful, they will have us return and possibly be able to continue with additional events at this venue. So, for everyone who wants to grow the sport, here is an opportunity to support an event that could be very good for pulling out west. Get pullers, get vendors, and have them contact me - plus it is a charity event that benefits kids. Their website doesn't have much on the pull yet, but it will continually be updated in the next week or so. www.thunderonthelot.com

ALL IN! I live in Lancaster, how cool is that! I was wondering what the new bleachers were for, that I saw the other day. I was just mentioning to the wife that the AV Fairgrounds ought to do what Pomona did, and get a drag strip!!! Maybe this event will help trigger that idea. They got the land! The thunder on the lot event used to be in the Lancaster public park, out doors, but last year they moved to the Fairgrounds and I thought it wasn't as cool as the outdoor event. But Harley Davidson did have all their new models lined up for free test drives!
