Hose keeps blowing off the turbo. Advice???

So I need your help brothers/sisters!
I went up to Willow Springs yesterday to ride the motorcycles and just my luck, the turbo blew the hose that connects to the intercooler boost tube off.
I of course am only carrying tools with me for the bikes (read Metric) and so I wind up managing a quick fix with aset of pliers.
Anyways, to make a long story short...who makes a better hose for that application. The one that came with my Banks BigHoss kit has about had it, and I can probably have Banks send me another one Monday, but does anyone in the San Diego area offer those hoses. I thought of the big NAPA store in Kearney Mesa, and perhaps a few RV mechanics in El Cajon, but anyone got any ideas for me? Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks much.
    Rob

Try cleaning the boot and the turbo with some carb cleaner to get all the oil off.
Use a little hairspray on the boot.
Will hold unless the boot is saturated in oil from the crank case vent.
Where to get one quick would be the dealer, but they are not cheap from there.
Do teh CCV re-route. I did when I put the intercooler in, made a big difference in how clean all the boots stay.

I'm sure there are better hoses and clamps out there. I think you did'nt wait long enough.

Perhaps, but I need the use of my truck.
    Jut an observation...
The one from the dealership has a slight bend in it and is about 4" long. The Banks on is straight and is about 2"
and the tubo outlet and the Banks hot tube are aligned. I think what I will wind up doing is getting another one from Banks and keep this one as a spare. I'll also be keeping a 7/16" deep socket onboard just in case.
Most important is that she's up and running strong.

Actually the factory boots and clamps work alot better in my opinion. Better than the banks ones I mean. I have the banks intercooler as well, and I compared the boots from both, and I use the factory units. The factory boot is a little more forgiving with alignment.
Big thanks to Bud and Matt for getting me back on the road!

    Hi Hoss,
The stock boot is about twice the length as the Banks unit, but the Ford unit also has a kink in it. The hot side of the Banks tube aligns perfectly with the discharge part of the turbo, so I think what I'll b doing is calling Banks and having them send me another one(or two) of their hoses and keeping the new one I just bought as a super spare.
Other than that, the truck runs great. No more issues with coolant overflows since the ARP's went in.
Now if only the price of fuel would drop just a tad. Yeah right. Looks like I'll be riding the motorcycle to/from work a little bit more now.

I bought the aftermarket kit from http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...S&Category=453 . It was a bit pricey, but I did it after I did the CCV mod and also used hairspray. Haven't had a problem since.

I have the same problem on my 2005. I have the Banks Big Hoss Bundle as well. The hose clamp does not really seat well on the Banks hose. They have sent me a second one but first time I towed my new toy box.

I also ordered the Diesel Elite replacment hose kit and will give that a try when it arrives.

Not sure if it is blowoing off due to the oil coming out or turbo overboost due to the Turbo sticking. It started last year and the turbo vanes were cleaned by the dealer and a new hose installed. They said it was good to go. But I don't drive the truck much, just for towing. Now 3,500 miles later it has started to blow off again.

When it first kicked off the truck under heavy load (73 hill) and appeared to be overboosting (surge in the power) - after I fixed it on the road it has kicked off 3 more times, anytime I go over 25 psi of boost. All the blow offs were in the stock setting.

Are their any good after market turbos, specifically for towing, that will help with this problem? Is Turbonetics any good?

Thanks for any suggestions in advance. Any good Diesel shops in Orange County for repairs/upgrades?

By the way what is the CCV mod?

The CCV mod is a Crank Case Vent. That is were you are getting the oil in the innercooler pipes. Do the ccv mos and clean the pipes really good and bell the end on the pipes and they should stay on.

The best way I have found to keep boots on is:
Clean the boot really well with brake or carb cleaner. That will also make it a bit tacky. Sand lightly insiide the boot and around the CAC tube it is going on. Apply some Aviation Form A Gasket to the tube and allow to sit for a minute or so to get tacky. Then slide the boot on making sure you get it in the groove if you have one on the tube. Tighten in place and let set for 10 min or so. Good to go. The Aviataion Form A Gasket does not dry all of the way yet stays tacky, holds the boot on very well.

Calico gave me this advise and it works great for me. 40 lbs boost and that thing does not bidge. Hope this helps.
