    two stroke oil

I cant find the original post on it. i have been running two stroke oil mixed in with diesel 1oz per gallon. let me tell you i was kind of suspicious at first but know im on my 4th tank of doing this and it has helped fuel mileage (about 4 miles to the gallon). my exhaust temp seems to be cooler (about 50 to 75 degrees) and injectors are a little quieter. the oil I'm using is SUPER TEC marine two cycle oil in the 16oz bottle from walmart the oil only cost $1.97 per bottle.

Is this ok to do on the 6.0 as well? I see David has been doing it as well, butI know the fuel systems are a bit different between the two. I am all for better mileage.

The 06 and 07 were made to run the fuel before they took out the sulfur.
They can handle low ash pre mix. I would not use more that 1oz per gallon because of the CAT. (if you run one) It is also an anti gel and does not lower BTU rating.

I don't think the '08 and up would like it. I think it would kill the exhaust filter early.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not running a cat currently, but would probably feel more comfortable with the lower dosage for safety sake. I am assuming the preferred method is 2 stroke in prior to filling up, so it mixes properly?

Since you're not running a cat, I am curious if you have any EBPV issues. My buddy deleted his cat on his X and his turbo fried after a few months, and several trips w/ his TT. The mechanic said the turbo fried because the 6.0 has to have some type of back pressure to work properly. Evidently the EBPV adjusts electronically and the cat plays a big part in this.

Interesting....I deleted the cat about 1k miles ago. I haven't experienced any issues to date, but I may research that a bit more. I didn't run a cat on my 7.3, but as you said it might be different with the 6.0.

You don't need a cat on a 6.0 to have it work properly , exhaust pressure is measured at the exhaust manifold before the turbo not after.

I have a friend who is a ford diesel mechanic he says removing the cat on a 6.0 will not hurt it at all but if you ever have problems with your truck and have to take it to the dealer for warranty work put the cat back in

Thanks for the info on where it's measured, but (pardon me for being ignorant, and I don't even have a 6.0 ) but what is it that creates the back pressure? The manifold? :slap:
