Do we have any other options besides the Ford factory fluid? I've heard that the 5R110 is a little finicky with anything other than the Ford stuff.
True or False? I know the factory fluid is synthetic but I am a big fan of Royal Purple products and was wondering if anyone here has swapped the trans fluid to Max ATF?

Here is my 1 cent.
Keep with what ever fluid you started the tranny with.
Since it was with SP, keep that. More so if you still have a warranty.
I am not a fan of synthetics in the tranny or a clutch type rear end.
A little to slick for the clutches to grab.
Plus talk to some good tranny builders, I bet they will sway you from synthetics also.
If you are going to have it rebuilt, go with either Dex-III or whatever the builder wants.
