Upgrading your front cup holder: 2000 to early 2001 Excursion.

The cup holder in the 2000 and early 2001 Excursion’s seems to be designed to hold coffee cups because when you put a large cup in the holder it falls to the floor every time you make a turn. Recently, I went for a ride in my buddy’s 2002 Excursion and I noticed that the cup holder in his Excursion was much deeper and held a large cup just fine. So while I was at Sunrise Ford for our meeting I checked with the parts department and they had the 2002 cup holder (part # 1C3Z3613562AAA) in stock and it fit the 2000 Excursion just fine. However, in the 2000 Excursion there are three color options which are Graphite, Parchment and Denim Blue while the 2002 Excursion only has two color options which are Flint and Parchment. I wanted to match the stock color so I went with the Parchment. With the www.socaps.com discount the cup holder is about $18 well worth it in my opinion. You only gain a little more than an inch in depth but it seems to do the trick. Here is a picture comparing the two with the new cup holder installed.

“Cup Thrower Tech” would probably be more appropriate.

I have been wondering if anyone makes and aftermarjet cup folder that works. I have a 1999 with the roiginal cup spiller. Someone should make a good one to replace these.
