Like the tittle says, I got a new tailgate for my truck after mine was stolen. I now have the need to lock my tailgate and was wondering if I had to go through ford to get it rekeyed or if there is an easier way.

I have heard that tailgates have a universal key, as long as its a ford key it will open. I HOPE this isn't true, but have you tried to open/lock it?

You Can Take It To A Locksmith Or Your Local Ford Dealer. My Guess Is About 75.00 To Get It Done.
I had mine done, I pulled the lock out of the tailgate and brought it to a locksmith, he charged $25 bucks, would have been $80 if he pulled it out of the tailgate. It was easy so I did it to save the $$

That is what I plan to do. Just take it off and take it somewhere to rekey. Thanks for all your help.
