So ive been asked many times how i have painted my grills, bumpers, ect. Well i figured a small write up would be better. Ill list the products i used and the process that worked for me to get the job done. Ill be using many diff pictures to show the diff. steps.
First: The supplies:
80 grit sand paper
shop clothes
mineral spirits
latex gloves
primer
Dupli Color Truck Bed Coating
First remove whatever your going to pain and make sure you cover the floor with some kind of tarp
Take your 80G sand paper and start scuffing up the whole surface until you so no shiny parts. were looking for a continuous matt finish or brushed AL look
Next take a cloth and the mineral spirits and take off all the loose stuff same came off from using the sandpaper. it will also remove grease that is put on from touching it with your hands so now is a good time to put on your latex gloves let it dry and once it does its ready for primer.
i used 2 6ton jack stands to hold it up off the floor so i could pain all the sides without moving it.
apply 3-4 light coats of primer until you can no longer see any chrome. allow time for the primer to dry between coats. Time depends on what primer you use. since we are using the texture paint their is no need to wet sand in between. if you were going to use regular pain i would wet sand after the second coat with 1k grit paper.
after you have applies all the coats of primer and aloud it to dry its ready for the texture paint. Now this stuff is very messy and dries very quickly so make sure you cover anything around you that you dont want this stuff on.
Just like the Primer. Apply light even coats until you have reached the desired look or thickness you desire. on most of my applications i applied 4-5 coats esp on the bumpers because the extra thickness will protect it from rocks. here is a picture of what this grill looked like completed. Unfortunately i didnt take a picture after i prime red it but have many other pictures of other stuff i have done for you to look like.
Here are some finished pics of my bumpers and other various stuff i have done.

I also very recently blacked out my brothers whole truck. We did his grill, both bumpers, gas cap, and 3rd brake light overlay... i think it came out very good. Took us 2 total days to complete the job. cant find any before pics of the front but her is one of the back and the finished pictures. Here are some pics:
