    '99 F350 overhead display repair

I watched the LED digital display fade out and die over the past year in my truck. I liked having the information available and would l;ike to repair the display myself rather than take it to the dealer. Has anyone else had this problem, and do you have a fix? I guess the primary objective would be removal of the housing...any tips?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chardagha

My brother and I fixed this in my dad's 99 last july. If I remember right the problem is that some of the components on the circuit board pop up (the techs call it tombstoning). My brother found an in depth fix on another web site that spells it all out for you. Basically we took the overhead console apart to get to the board then took the board out. Upon inspection we found two or three components that had come unsoldered from the board. We could have done it ourselves but as luck would have it one of his techs was there that day and did it for us. it was kind of a PIA because it did not want to resolder but it did finally work. According to this other website this is a fairly common problem. If you did not want to repair, it would require a new circuit board. If you want I'll get a hold of my brother and get you the link.

Thanks for the info Thumperer. I saw the same solution on another site and downloaded it. How is the best way to remove the housing from the headliner to get to the board?
