I need help with brakes and rotors

    Hi everyone,

In 6 weeks or so I'll be buying all 4 new rotors and new pads all around for my lifted Excursion. I refuse to take it to the dealer for obvious reasons. I'm curious to see if anyone has the knowledge and tools to perform this swap for me... for a fee of coarse. I would help, I'm not idiot with tools. I know it's not supposed to be a difficult job but to be honest, I don't have floor jacks, stands or air tools and I'd really rather pay someone here who could really use the money to help me vs. the overpriced Stealer.

Think it over,Let me know...San Diego area.

I can add a comment here I've tried a few different kinds of pads on my excursion and the pads from Ford work the best!!!!!! Spend the money and buy them from the dealer even if you have someone else or a shop do it.

I am running Off Road Unlimited's frozen rotor kit and pads. All I can say is that they are amazing. They help pull the EX down from speed in a hurry with perfect feel and dont fade. The EX gets driven up and down some really steep grades up here in Big Bear and they give un confidence it "WILL" stop. At around $800 they are not cheap, but some things I wont skimp on.

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said:
"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out." Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
    1. Jesus Christ
    2. The American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

    Brakes

I have to second IDK's comments regarding the factory brakes. My first set of pads went on at 62000 miles and the rotors were turned at the same time. I currently have 35000 on the second set and if the Tuttle-Click technician was not lying I have 6mm left on each corner. Now the tech told me that I have about half the life left. To me 6mm sounds a little low but I am not a high paid Ford service Tech.

The factory pads are very good.

The factory rotors can be ok, but they're not the greatest.

Offroad Unlimited uses ART (Applied Rotor Technology) brakes.

They're probably what you would want in the way of price/benefit.
