Garage floor ideas - renovating garage.

Well the wife and I are going to give the garage a make-over. We are purging old baby stuff and want to reorganize everything. We have been looking at Garageworks stuff since she gets a discount http://www.gladiatorgw.com/default.asp

It will probably be a combination of different storage concepts.

Anyhow I have a few questions if anyone has gone through this:

    1) What do you prefer for the floor? Paint, Rhino-type liner, vinyl, roll-out... and any pix, advantages, disadvantages?

    2) We are arranging typical garage stuff, bikes, surfboards, kayak, tools and tool bench area, closet type space, beer fridge, wine fridge. Any innovative ideas for some of these?

Will also be sheetrocking the ceiling etc.

Any ideas from those having done such a task appreciated.

My buddy used the two part epoxy from Home Depot, he bought the gray and sprinkled the blue specks on top. I think that it's been in there about a year and it seems to be holding up quite well.

sounds like a big job, that stuff your looking at looks great. I did see the rolls of floor covering at Costco yesterday, reasonably priced. In case you were looking that way....

Yeah I got some good feedback on the Epoxy stuff over on TDS. Looks like I need to sandblast the floor too - - gonna be a big project, but will be awesome.

The garage works stuff is pretty cool and I will use some of it but now I am looking at old wearhouse cabinets. I have seen some industrial stuff with casters on the internet that are pretty nice. Figure I can have some strong cabinets and save on the cost. Gonna start hitting the old wearhouse liquidator places in downtown for ideas. Saw some great stuff in TX the other day but I would have so trailer to CA. Hopefully will find the same here, repaint, and make it sweet.

I just epoxy coated my garage floor last week. I went with the good epoxy that I researched on the internet. Spend a little more and do it right the first time. Get 100% pure epoxy not water based (home depot, lowes, etc sell water based). The prep was the most important. My kit came with muriatic acid to help etch the concrete. I first used a degreaser, then power washed it off, then applied acid and power washed it a few times more. The application of epoxy was easy. Make sure the weather is around 70,80,90 to help cure. Good luck.

I saw a company applying an epoxy coating and they were wearing these spiked sandals to avoid footprints.
    Pretty ingenious, I thought.

Yes those are like golf spikes. They slip on over your shoes and you can walk on the coated areas without screwing anything up for up to 20-30 minutes after you apply the coating. I think I paid $20 for mine.
