Cleaning the pcm access port contacts

I'm getting a new F5 DP chip to replace my current Banks chip.
Can I clean the pcm contacts with a qtip soaked in acetone, then vacuum the fibers off?
My Banks chip was never secured. I can just pull it out. Should I secure the F5 chip with tape? I hate to gum up the pcm and black plastic pcm housing with tape adhesives. My port is already open, so all I have to do is plug in the DP F5 chip.

I would not use acetone on the PCM... I only use rubbing alcohol and a lint free towelette or an alcohol swab. Acetone is a bit harsh and I would not want to ruin the PCM. What burns are you getting. I hear that F5 chip rules.

I honestly would not get acetone near any plastic part...will melt it on contact(used to clean screwdriver handles with it) ...and as with the tape...goo gone takes it right off...

Maybe the acetone was only suggested by Jody for the removal of the silicone coating. I already removed that, so alcohol it is.
I'm getting the F5 from Jody direct. He suggested high idle, stock, 60tow, 80econ, 120 race.
He says any tuning in the PCM will be overridden by the chip.
I have the Banks Transcommand, and that will override the DP trans tuning. I really like the Transcommand. But if you ask me to take it out, I wouldn't know how because I didn't install it. Been working great for 100 grand miles.
In the future I do want a John Woods rebuild. Already talked to him. He said it will cost less to rebuild it now, than when it finally gives out.

Woodman is the best. And as for the Trans Command, find out how to take it off. I dont know where is is located, but I can tell you that I run a PCM with jody's 80HP econo tune and it shifts beyond perfect. It is a dream. But that is your call. Enjoy the chip!!!

If it shifts badly, I can go to Banks direct in Monrovia, or any of their installers like the ones that installed mine.
It was a decision to get the F5, the DP PCM, or the SCT2 DP tuner.

If you go with the DP or the SCT 2 they both will have programs for the trans to shift properly. You wont need the transcommand once you get one of those tunes. I had a friend that ran a Banks chip even after putting 3 motors in it. Took it to John Woods to have him look at it and said that chip is the reason why it burnt the motor up. The motor was so load when it drove and when it idled because the timing was so far off. He spent 400+ on that Banks tune. It was a level 4 chip. We dynoed at Johns place. 193Hp stock, 218hp Banks level 4,and the costom 5 pos, 305 Hp.

Had no idea the Banks chips were like that.
I found a connector with a pigtail that was in my Banks install. Now all I have to do is plug this in place of the Transcommand, and it will be back to stock. Glad I kept this part.
Right now I have a 100hp Diablo Predator tune in my pcm. Since the chip will bypass the pcm tune, I will not even reinstall my stock tune. Or should I?
I was thinking if I have any problems with the F5, I can unplug it and go back to my Predator tune.

I think you will need to reinstall the stock tune. my friend tried to put a chip in when it had the Evolution tuner in it and the truck would not start.

Thanks! I'll put it back to stock.
I also have a 2002X with 108000 miles. Have my signature working now.
Do you happen to know your top speed or the fastest you have gone in your x with a gps? That's the reason I got the chip is to remove the speed limiter. My Predator didn't remove the speed limiter. Have no idea if the SCT2 also removes the speed limiter.

The X is big enough to do anything, I've had my X over 100 many times with good tires.

I intalled my DP F5 yesterday. Since the chip overrides whatever the stock tune is, I just left the Predator tune in. No problems. I cleaned my contacts with tape head cleaner.
Also left the transcommand in. No problems. Shifts are still quick and very smooth just like it was before the chip.
Next mod is a John Wood trans. I already have 108000 miles. Some stock trans go 250000. So may be a long time until I need it.
