power loss -- need some advice

my truck has steadily lost power over the past several months, and multiple dealers cannot locate the problems. i am not throwing any "check engine" codes, so i am pretty sure that the dealers have very little to go on. trust me, i am not looking to flame any dealerships, i just want some advice on how, or what i should do to try to get some power back.

here is what i/dealers have done... some are basic maintenance, but i thought i would list them anyway :

    replaced EGR valve
    replaced CAC rubber boot (interconnect)
    replaced fuel filters
    replaced air filter
changed oil (over to rotella synthetic)
06E17 reflash (this was a year ago)

i am now willing to take the truck into a shop where someone might be able to troubleshoot what is wrong. how can i tell if the injectors might be the problem? now that it is getting a little cooler out, i do notice that the engine does seem to "miss" after running for a few minutes -- i can tell when i drop my daughter at the sitter who only lives a mile away from the house. i leave the truck running when i take her in, and when it idles, it seems to surge and then drop off ever so slightly. after the truck warms up, this seems to go away.

any suggestions on where to take my truck in or around the LA area? bottom line, i just want the truck to run the way it "used to" and am willing to pay if need be.

    thanks,

"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in... And how many want out." Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

    Davey,

Sounds like you may have lost an injector. Give Mike or Carlos a call and get the truck down to us.

So are you saying the loss of power totally goes away once it's warmed up and been running a long time?

no, power loss is an all the time thing... engine idles a bit rough when cold, so that was making me think it was an injector problem...

trust me, i have been nothing but happy with sunrise -- bought the truck from bobby, and they have taken good care of me. unfortunately, fontana is a bit of a drive, and i was concerned that since i was not throwing any codes, that it might be a "wasted" 100 mile trip.

    what is a "contribution" test?

    thanks!

I like Sunrise Ford and Bobby's has been great to me also, but the 6.0 seem to be finickey at time I have had a couple of issues myself with no code being set. Sometimes it seem's that if there is no code the mechanic's are stumped. I would be curious to know if any dealer has put a flight data recorder on the truck while they test drove it to see if anything is not within spec? This would be my guess, after it warm's up and the missing clear's up I would say glow plug and as far as loss of power goes I would say turbo or the VGT control valve? The vane's in the turbo seem to stick.

    Just trying to help!

I had the surge at ideal myself in the morning when cold, and then seemed fine. I brought it in and they replaced the turbo, they said two of the bolts had to be torched off and then they split it down the middle it was rusted and pitted.

I put another 1,000 miles on it and the power was not up to parr, then they took off the fuel tank and put it back on. He said belive it or not he has found sand in the tanks. Tomorrow they are putting a new fuel pump.
    I hope thats it.

It seems like a lot of trouble shooting.

    Your truck

So did you get your truck back and how does it run? Did they tell you about the reflash or had you already had it done, I think I'm due for new headgasket I was towing today and it puke coolant when I was towing up a grade, Just had them check the EGR cooler and pressure test the heads and cooling they said it was OK, But I towed and now I'm puking. All stock(engine) except for an EGT guage.
