Great Dog to a Great Home

We have an 11 month old Lab/Shephard mix named Ginger. She is a great dog. We also adopted her sister when they were both puppies. However, recently Ginger is getting more and more aggressive with her sister as she tries to be the Alpha, and she has a tendency to growl and get very uneasy around small children. As we look at expanding our family we are forced to make a very tough decision. She has ALOT of love for my husband and I. She is a GREAT cuddler. She graduated Puppy training with flying colors and listens very very well. We have a doggy door and she's completely house trained. She is a great companion and would absolutely thrive where she is the sole doggy. She's been fixed, has all her current vaccinations and also has a microchip. She truly is a great dog, and would make a great only dog with NO small children. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Her photos are attached! She's absolutely gorgeous! PM me if interested. Thanks everyone!

It's always sad when you have to give up a family member!!
I'd love to help you out with Ginger, but I have two cats and it sounds like she might eat them!! :) My two dogs passed away several years ago, and now I'm just sticking with cats!

Good looking dog...you should be able to find her a good home!

I hope so! It's been a really difficult day. She is such a great dog. I've been calling shelters, and every place is just really full this time of year. Adoptions are slow. So it's been hard for us. If anyone is interested in possibly being a 'Foster' until we can find her a permanent home, that is also an option. We just don't have good property to properly seperate them until we can find her a home. Also, to keep her here after we have made this decision is more difficult on us. Anyone interested can PM me or just reply to this post here. Thanks.

    Update

Ginger is now back with the shelter we got her from. It's a NO KILL shelter, so she will be there until they can find her a home that is perfect for her. If anyone is interested in adopting her, she can be found at www.hp.petfinder.com

She is Ginger. Her puppy picture is up there right now, but they will be updating that. Please ask around. As this baby is a good girl, and deserves a great loving home.

Just curious, I went to the Petfinder site.
Cute puppy picture of Ginger and a nice write up!

Seems like a good organization and I'm sure will take care of her!

I'm sure it's sad for you guys...but, sometimes you just have to do things that are right for you!

If you want an interesting dog book to read, try "Marley & Me" by John Grogan. True story about a family and their incorrigible dog.
On second thought, maybe you shouldn't read it...I cried through the last two chapters. It's a kind of feel good book, but a real tear jerker.

Sounds like a good book... but maybe not quite yet. I'll write the title down, and maybe when we feel ready. It's been a pretty tough couple of days. It is good knowing that she is at a No Kill shelter and that they already know her and they know how she's been raised. I think they will try to find her a really good home. Thanks Samuel.
