Banks Hose Blowing

HELP, My husband and son in law (Frank and Terry) are on the way to Fallon Nevada and have blown a hose on the banks kit.(of course this happened the first time around midnight in Tehachapi) They have had to stop 6+ times to try and get this hose to stay on. I dont know what hose it is, but after talking to FORD they say there is a replacement hose available from Banks.I believe it is the same top air intake hose that blew the first time we pulled out Raptor up a long grade, and it put a dent in the hood from the inside out.

This of course does not help my husband who is hauling a large baler to Fallon and needs to return to the coast of Ca. with another baler. Anyone have any ideas?

His truck is 2004, F350,6.0 with a banks kit on it.

if it's an intercooler hose, try double clamping on both sides, and using hairspray. that should work.

I think the hose is too far gone for that now. They are in the hills someplace between Tehachipi and Nevada. Waiting to hear from them. Also my kid is on the phone with Banks. I might have to make a road trip tonight....argh...
Anyone know anyone who carries BANKS stuff near Fallon Nevada? Reno?

i wouldn't worry about getting banks hoses. i would try to find any 3" hose possible. then keep the boost way down.

Just talked to my son in law, who says it is the hose that goes from the Banks Turbo to the Intake and it starts out as 3 1/2id and goes to 5 id. They have the Banks to 1 and are still crawling along.

hose is kind'a a custom special. That's going to make it difficult to replace!!

Like has already been suggested:
1) Clean the hose and the tube where it connects with brake cleaner, acetone, or some other solvent to get it squeaky clean.
2) Then spray hair spray or similar substance that is tacky and dries quickly onto the mating surfaces.
3) Then crank the clamps down and hope it holds.

The hose blow off problem is usually caused by two things:
1) High boost.
2) Oil getting onto the mating surfaces because of the crank case vapors vented into the intake tube.

Samual, thanks for the info. I was on Nextel talking to Terry and when I was asking him if the hose was in any condition to work with they went into a dead spot and I lost him. I will keep you posted. Norma

Just talked to Terry, they are in Reno. Banks is shipping a NEW UNIT to the hotel for them. Terry already had to buy some wrenches last night, so he will be installing the thing. It is costing 150.00 shipping overnight RED TAG. The Ford dealership here is paying for the parts.
At least they can now go to sleep, and I dont have to drive to Nevada.

Wow.....

Terry called me this morning about meeting up this weekend (new plan: I will be at the shop with him Sunday, fyi) and I heard about the troubles. He said it took something like over two hours to go the first 40 miles??!

Yeah Ryan, I think Sunday is a better buggy day. Since they probably wont get started home till late Saturday night at the earliest. Glad I didnt go this trip, though Sharky's prime rib sounds good....
Junior just got invited to go to a Junior Amature Bowling Tournament in Ventura, so we will probably do that Sunday morning.

Just heard the bad news from Terry. They are still stuck in Reno, the part was shipped to the hotel but nobody can find it?! Sounds like the part they are receiving though is an updated piece that should solve the problem.

Frustrating is not the word at this point. What was supposed to be a "turn around trip" to Fallon Nevada is going to be a six day trip by the sound of it. Terry had to pay $150.00 to get the parts shipped overnight "RED TAG" and now they are not there. Mad is probably saying it lightly. Thankfully Ford is paying for the parts.
Crossing our fingers the package shows up, so they can fix the truck, drop the first baler, pick up another one and head home. Gonna be a long weekend....:banghead::banghead::banghead:
