    Exclamation 6.9L Diesel Build

I have a 85 ford f250 and I am thinking of building this 6.9L engine for sled pulls. Has any one ever build on of these engines for max power, and if so do you have any dyno #

I'm tryin to build one, it's just a slow process. Especially since I got an 05 that I keep spending money on to mod! I figure my 6.9 will be a one hit wonder. She's either gonna go or blow! :popc1:

Ken at http://www.dps-performance.com/ built a high HP 6.9 with a few pulls under its belt. He's real knowledgeable about IDI's but hard to get a hold of.

Ken is extremely hard to get a hold of. So if you do get a hold of him, have a list of questions to be ready to ask.

I had Ken rebuild my injection pump. Wow what a pump!!! I finally built a cold air intake and have now run out of fuel (since I'm pumping so much air), so back to the drawing board to get more fuel through it.

Yes he sent out a match set of injectors as well. Did you run the Dyno at the 3rd anniversary? If you did what where the numbers?

This last weekend hooked bumper to bumper to a DMAX and WON!!!!!! put the old girl in 4 wheel low 2 gear and let her buck gust love those 4.10s Afterwords my budys excuses were flying but my personal favorite was he didn't have his chip on. What could I say to that but smile. My old truck is a 85 with HD front axil 4 speed manual trans 6.9 with 235,000 and the spedometer has not worked sence may of 1998. I have a new dodge cummins (scared of the 6.0) But this old ford is the one I will never sell and someday restore

    RamRod,

I know what you mean. Take a look at my pics. Mine was pretty beat up and is now starting to shine again. And I still get 18+ mpg. Not many 1 ton trucks can say that.

I am going to build a high HP IDI. I will get my rods and pistons, head studs from DPS. A local injection pump shop says they can get the pump I have up to 300cc's per shot. How is that in comparison to what Ken does up there at DPS?

I am going to run 18-1 compression. the truck I have is a 93 f350 reg cab single wheel. I just picked it up. My only interest when buying it was to yank the motor out lower the compression and turn out some hp #'s some ware in the 400HP range. I do plan on sledpulling.

So what are some of you guys running for compression, HP & boost with your IDI's??

hmm ill dyno my truck next time i get a chance i bet i have a lil more than 199. Especially when i get the intercooler all hooked up.
I think im going to have a custom pupm built and get some injectors soon but my car is taking all of my money right now. The highest egt ive seen is 1300 on the floor 2 rhinos and 2 quads on a heavy ass trailer. I only held it there for less than a minute but it took a long time to get there on a extremly hot day.
