    Talking Up, Up and Away.........

This just may very well be the coolest, or the worst/expensive hobby I have ever started.........

I purchased a R/C Heli, the same one pictured above. I was told it was going to be very difficult to fly......but man!!! This thing is nearly impossible to control! The initial cost of the set up wasn't to bad, but I promise they will make up for it in parts sales. Do any of you fly R/C Heli's........I could use some pointers!

    Thanks,
    Jason

There's someone who flies one in a field next to where I work, and they are GOOD!:bigshock: I seem to remember once seeing them do a loop-the-loop.:jawdrop:

SuperDF350 has a killer RC heli. One of these days we will go fly out in my back yard. I just need to fix my plane.

Jason, It is hard to fly a heli only if it is not set up correctly. If you want i will look at it to see if it is set up. Also the smaller it is the harder it is to fly. Mine has a 5 foot rotor span.

    Ryan...

Thank you very much for the offer. The Heli manufacture says they test fly every Heli before they are shipped out, to be sold. In other words they are pre-set up. I can't imagine they are always perfect, and dead on with all the settings. I cannot belive how much trouble this thing is giving me!?!?!? As soon as I start to increase the throttle, the Heli starts woundering all over! I tried to adjust some of the trim settings with not much luck. I have been reading about how Heliocopters work, to better understand what causes it to act in this manner, Yet I am still lost!

Any advise would be greatly appriciated.....

    Thanks again,

    Jason

I was going to say the gyro was out alittle bit but Matt beat me to it. If it is still a little squrly see if you have the duel rate feture on your radio. you may need to slow the servos down so they are not so fast. That might be a problem. If you cant adjust them on the radio you will need to move the rod ends that connect to the servo to slow them down. You should be able to add throttle and lift off the ground without imputting any other control. Thats when you know its set up correctly. If you need anything else PM me and i will help you along.

Thanks.... I think the main rotor blades are not pitched properly....I had a bit of a crash, and the blades struck the ground. I main blades look as if the have no angle to them at all. I'm guessing thats the reason I cannot get her off the ground now. I think I need to take it somewhere and have the blades properly pitched. I wish there was a knowledgeable Heli shop near me, It's hard when everything you read about proper set-up looks like its in another language! I will let you know how it turns out....;)

One way to see if the blades are tracking is to power the heli up just before lift off and get down to the ground level and look at the blades. If it looks like one is not tracking right get two different colors of elec. tape and put a little on the leading edge of the blades. If they dont look like they are in the same place something might be bent. Make sure the peices are the same length so it wont throw the balance out to far. Make sure the Swash plate is not bent and everything is free in the rotor head.

I finnaly got the Heli all trimmed out....:yay:

I have got a good hang of hovering, I can keep it 3-4 feet off the ground and in a steady hover!!:waytogo:

You were absolutely right Ryan, if the heli is not trimmed properly.......forget about! I blew through 4 sets of blades trying to get the hovering down, and at 16 bucks a set......This is getting expensive:shocked:
I also broke the graphite boom....Don't ask how....:smirk: Two sets of landing skids......a bent main shaft.......one canopy.....and one tail rotor blade......But once I got the hovering down, It was well worth it!!!

I will keep you updated as the progress continues.......or when I run out of money for repairs..... ......

As a matter of fact it is up for sale for 900 dollors complete. With a Futaba super 9 channel radio that hold 18 planes or helis. two sets of carbon fiber blades, one set of wood. and a whole tail boom set up incase you hit the tail. If you knw anyone let me know..
