    Tranny Service questions...

Well Im getting ready to service a trans., The questions i have is I have read that to get all the fulid out of the trans it says to pull the pressure line off the trans and put it in a bucket and put the truck into drive then reverse. I know there are many quarts in the tranny and he want to change as much of the fulid as possible. Anyone have any commets on how far do I need to go.

just noticed you have a standard trns ooops. sorry !!!. i believe there is a drain plug and fill plug on the back of the trans drain to empty fill till it comes out the the filler hole. if i remember correctly research back of trans first . hope that helps too lol

auto is my first post then lol sorry. i would not pull lines and do it that way , i would be too worried about running trans w/ no fluid in it . pull the pan after cooled off and the only fluid you will miss is the fluid in the torque converter

When it comes to automatics, I take mine to Aamco, and let them do it. I just had my F-150 done, and it was only 160 bucks. Full flush inspect and filter/screen change.

The trans holds about 18 qts, draining the pan gets about 8 qts, if you want to do it your self here is the link, http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/199...ance-AutoT.htm its not very difficult, I was also worried about running my pump dry so I didn't use the watch for bubble method, I drained the pan, replaced the filter, refilled the pan, removed the return line, pump out 4 - 5 qts, replace with same repeat until you fill a 5 gallon bucket, 20 qts, this replaces a couple extra and that gets it about as clean as you can.
Check it out and decide, hope this helps.
