    Tow Haul mode

Ok guys. Here is one for ya. It may sound dumb but here it goes.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's safe, or even recommended to turn the T/H mode OFF when your towing or hauling a load, when you get up to say 60-70mph on an open road?

Anything to save a little on fuel.

I tow about 11,000 pounds, and if I'm on a flat surface, steady speeds, I will turn the button off, even a little upgrade is okay, as long as you don't feel the truck really luggin bad, or shift every two seconds. As soon as I hit any kind of steep grade going down or up, I turn it back on, going down because you want to use the engine braking.

Okay but as far as you know does it screw up the tranny in any way doing that?

    Re: Tow Haul mode

I'm not a diesel or tranny tech, but I know when something is working within it's parameters, and the only difference the tow/haul does is, keep it in lower gear so it stays in it's power band, and doens't overheat the tranny or motor. So as long the tranny doesn't shift a hundred times in 2 seconds, in my opinion it does not harm it. But again technically I'm not a tranny or diesel tech, so maybe someone else will have a different opinion.

Is that 11k in addition to the weight of your truck or 11k combined weight?

11k would be his trailer weight.

I think he's got a pretty large towable.
