Club Members I need help with a paint shop

Well, I came out this morning and discovered that someone late last night/early morning poured paint remover over the entire truck. FNNNN Bastardddds.

I could use everyones help in finding a body shop. As some of you know I'm here in OC, but am willing to have the best shop do it regardless of where there at. I need a dammmnnnn good paint shop that can handle a complete repaint in a timely manner, but do it right and that means stripping it down to medal removing all the windows, door handles, rubber, everthing..... (since I went through this before 9 years ago with another car that got keyed, 2 wks after we owned it, I learned my lesson not to have a clear coat car repainted over, it chips)

Thanks ahead of time for the help, if you want to pm me I think my profile is open.

I don't know. If something like that happened to my truck, I'd consider painting it olive drab or something.

    Sorry to hear that happened.

People can be so jealous sometimes. Too chicken to say something to your face, they stoop to destroying helpless (and expensive) trucks. sad.

Ok, here are some of the pics. Your going to need a box of tissue and pour yourself a stiff glass of Scoth or JD to view them, your going to need it.

Re: Club Members I need help with a paint shop

Oh, yeh I forgot to add this, So I wasted the entire day going to two different shops used by the insurance company. I know how this game is played so i figured I would apese them. First shop, estimated the repairs around $5,000.00 Second shop claims they could do it for $1800.00.

First guy could'nt figure out how to estimate out the two tone and then could'nt find a code for the pin strip tape that goes between the silver and blue. So he says to me, "Well just have our guy paint in the pin stripe' Complete f'nnn idiot. Yeh, thats what I want a painted pin stripe on one side of the car and taped pinstripe on the other.

Second guy says they will just sand out the burn areas, prep the metal and then respray and blend into the rest of the clear coat. I guess that explains the $1800 bargain there giving the insurance company.

What these two shops did'nt know until I let them do there thing was that I have sprayed at least a dozen hot rods of my own over the years and I know what works and what does'nt. Damage like this requires a complete strip down to metal and then a complete repaint from scratch. I even took it over to the guys I know at the Wholesale automotive paint supply store near my office to let them have a look at it. Man where they pissed off. They also stepped up to the plate and offered me a couple of shops they they supply to that they would take it too if it was there truck. So all be running around tomorrow. Oh, and the first thing the guy that does all the custom color blending for them says to me, "Man don't let them sand out the burn and then think they can respray and blend it. It won't work because in about two years its going to look like a blotched home paint job."

    Dude, that is horrible.

......probably better for them and you that you didn't catch them in the act. If I did, I would be put away for a lonnng time I am sure on multiple counts of assault and battery. Too bad you can't get away with that.

I have to agree with Ryan, it's probably a good thing you didn't catch them, jail would suck. Was yours the only vehicle they got? If there was more, maybe the police would make a greater effort at finding the low-life oxygen-wasting scumbags.

Re: Club Members I need help with a paint shop

Well, the truck went into the shop today. I ended up going to my commercial auto paint supply house were we occassionaly buy paint for industrial uses. Had them recommend a couple of shops that were there best customers. Boy, what a difference in the quality of intelligence that move made. I narrowed it down to two shops and picked what I hope is the best of the two. Frankly, I was impressed with the owners knowledge of paint, metal and whats done today at the factory. Plus he was straight forward on telling me that he could'nt get too it until now, because they were booked. I guess one of the true indicators of a quality shop is when you go in there and there doing body of restoration paint on a roadster in one corner and on the other side of the shop there doing a custom radical paint job on a chopper.

Fact of the matter was I dropped it off this morning and he calls me in the afternoon and tells me they have the thing completely apart and are going to start prep sanding and that if I want to get some digital pictures I need to get over there in the morning for the first phase.

All start posting the pics when they come available. If the job comes out like I think its going to all give the shops name and number out for everyone. I'm a firm believer in referral business.
