    Problems :(

Ok, as most of ya know, I took my truck and trailer out to the desert. The trip out there was awsome!! NO PROBLEMS... Ran the Banks around level 3.

On the way back is when I ran into problems. The wind was blowing like crazy, against me. Got to the I-8 mountains doing around 50mph uphill with the tow/haul ingaged. About 10 min into the climb, I noticed my boost gauge is dead. I still hear the turbo spooling, but from time to time, it felt as if I lost power, or it wasnt downshifting. (I still have stock gearing). The pyro was around 900 - 1000 at this point and the trans seemed to gettin' up there at around 200. So I pull off the next exit, let the turbo cool down for about 15 min, and take off. Then the emissions light came on the dash indicator.... pull off again to read my Ford manual, and take off again, all the way home.

    Anyone have any advice??

Oh yeah, and my stinkin' air bags BOTH came off (the spacers scooted WAY outta position) about an hour into my trip out there... I'm raisin' [censored] at 4 wheel parts!! They told me the missaligned one is perfectly fine to pull my 12k trailer!!

    Re: Problems :(

    1. Perhaps you are having a problem with your EBPS (Exhaust back pressure sensor). This will throw a code. Mine went bad and they fixed it, all is well now. It's a known problem.

    2. I would consider tack welding the brackets on the lower air bag mount. With those extentions on them, it would seem they might like to twist out of position. Just a couple tacks the axle will keep them from twisting IMHO.

    Re: Problems :(

Tom, are you talking about tacking the "spacers" to the brackets? That makes sense because before they fell apart, i think they were kinda hanging off the edge of the brackets.

    Re: Problems :(

    yes, the spacers.
The lower bracket can rotate a bit on the axle, too.
Maybe spot welds on both (so you don't rotate an lose them)

    Re: Problems :(

Ok...update...I unhooked my trailera this morning, the dash emission indicator light eventually went off, but I have a MAJOR loss in power. The turbo isnt as loud as it was before, I am thinkin' I maybe burned up the turbo. I also fixed the boost gauge, the tube had come out of the T-connector. Now, my boost gauge barely goes anywhere when I floor it!! Can anyone help me, or give suggestions???

(when i put the banks to "6" and floor it, it has less power than a GEO Metro!!

did an intercooler hose split open or something? sounds like you have a boost leak...hopefully not a toasted turbo.

I'm looking, but I don't see any problems with the hoses.... I am going to get the flashlight out in a minute and get a really good look.

Both intercooler hoses look ok. My boost gauge is reading about 6psi in my driveway when I step on the pedal.

    Re: Problems :(

Take the Banks 6 gun off and see what happens. If all is well, then you know where the problem is.

    Brian

P.S. I wouldn't buy so much as a wing nut from 4 Wheel. I bought tires and wheels from them that were not balanced properly. I took my truck back the next day to have them balanced again. Took them 2 days to get to it before they called to tell me they were balanced. When I picked up my truck they were still out of balance, so I took it to a tire shop. The guy there told me none of my wheels had a single weight on them. So 4 Wheel never even balanced them at all.

Man....thats not cool... The only reason I was goin' with 4 Wheel Parts is cause of a good friend of mine is good friends with the store manager, but I'm only gonna take it back there to have them fix my bags. Still, after they fix my bags, I'm gonna modify the mounts and tack weld new ones (or whatever its gonna take). I agree with ya

I'm gonna try disconnecting the Banks here in a little bit.

Or the Variable Vanes are stuck in one position and not moving as needed.

Is it smoking at all when you floor it???

What's the code? That's where I would start off...find out what the light came on for.....

I guess Tom's remote analysis sounds like it might be the best guess. He's like the automotive Nostradamus (at least for Fords) .

Anyhow, The 4wheelparts store in San Marcos/Escondido has some pretty good guys in back. Only place around here that could do a ttb dana 50 front end alignment right the first time and the same shop installed some lockers and gears for a friend successfully as well. I guess some stores are better than others...

    Re: Problems :(

Ok, update with the power loss....there is no more loss as of this morning. I think it was due to the boost gauge tube popping off of the T-line. When I drove it to 4wheelparts this morning, everything seemed okeedokee!

    Re: Problems :(

I'd blame on Tom's for using Firestone bags.....
I would have bought ACME brand air bags and frame mounts, taken it over to Wiley Coyote 4 wheel Drive Center
and ask technican " Road Runner" beep... beep...to do the installation.

SoCal sorry your having problems . You'll get it sorted out..
By the way Tom is the suspension Guru. I think on his one truck alone, he's change suspension 6 times.
