    Electrical question

Mounted the Painless Wiring Block under the dash close to the main fuse panel this weekend. Ran a #10 awg power wire to the 30 amp reostat provided and ran a #10 awg wire to positive side on the passanger side battery but did not attache it yet. Mounted two 30 amp swithches in the dash to control PIAA fog lights [ second one is for future use]. Hooked ground wire to first switch, attached power from Painless Wiring Block, and attached wire to black box that is also attached to the battery which turns the fog lights on [ I know this has a name but I cannot think of it now].

I did not attache the keyed side of the Painless Wiring Block yet and probably will not for a while.

Now my question: With every thing attached correctly and grounded as required -- Do I need to be concerned about slipping the power wire over the positive post and securing it with a nut? I ask becasue some folks have posted issues about wiring.

If you have electical talent and know the answer please share it with me. Need conformation.

You're not being ignored, at least by me, I read your posts. However, I don't have a clue as to an answer to your question.

    Re: Electrical question

I actually would like to install a Painless Wiring block, but I have not done it yet. So I do not know how to answer your question. When it comes to electrical stuff, I am clueless. So after you figure it out, can you help me install it.

Did I read it correctly that u have ground on one pole of a switch and 12+ on the other???

If so.....that switch will melt in 2.2 seconds or less....

    Re: Electrical question

I am just guessing but let's try this out. The reason you attached a ground wire to your switch is because it is a lighted switch maybe and it needs the ground for the light to work. I would also guess that you are using a relay to power your lights and the switch is just control voltage (very little load)to close the relay (full lighting load)feeding directly off the battery. If this is the case, you won't hurt a thing tying the #10 AWG into the battery but I would disconnect the battery ground while doing this. Hope that helps you out and doesn't just confuse the hell out of you even more.

    Re: Electrical question

I would maybe use a bigger wire than 10ga if you plan on using that painless block to power a bigger load in the future than just fog lights or spot lights. I would also make sure that each power source running off that is fused and anything on a switch be connected to a relay.
