Cat removal

We dont smog diesels so I guess that means taking the kitty out should not be a problem down the road? Altho I think I read somewhere that smogging diesels is in the near future.

That way you can put it back in should the need arise.

Also, the familiar diesel smell will come back. That cat makes the exhaust smell nasty.

Cat in: only legal way. Exhaust smells weird.
Cat out: more whistle, questionable legal status, exhaust smells like a diesel, lower EGT's (likely)

True. But noone ever checks, so if they will never find out why not? Just go w a delete pipe so if some day you need to get smogged, if they end up passing some law, you can replace the cat back exactly where it was. No harm no foul. I think the bene's outweigh the downfalls.
