    Sanger,
About 100 to 200 degrees difference. I guess you would'nt need it unless your towing all the time and/or running a performance enhancing devices.

    my engine is stock.
I currently have the 3.5" downpipe to 4" exhaust with the cat still in.

    My buddy's looking at a 4" downpipe.
How hard to install that thing?

If you're installing it yourself, I've been told that the 4" is a PITA to install and that sometimes you even have to get after the firewall with a hammer to make room. If someone else is installing it, why not go for the 4"?

Re: 3.5" or 4" downpipe for the 6.0

I have the 4" down pipe and I installed it myself. It was pretty easy. I also removed my dad's 3.5 and replaced his with a 4" and it went real smooth also. I don't really know the pro and cons but that is what came with my kit.

    Thanks

Re: 3.5" or 4" downpipe for the 6.0

I believe the four inch doesn't require any bending of the firewall lip. The pro's with the four inch are, more performance, lower egt's, better gas mileage,. Con's there are none.I mean someone correct me if I'm wrong, Bigger is better when a large displament turbo engine is involved. The most important is the egt's, The turbo works a little easier to expel the exhaust, and there is more room for the exhaust to exit, which is why it gets a little cooler.
Big thanks to Bud and Matt for getting me back on the road!

Re: 3.5" or 4" downpipe for the 6.0

The only con to a 4" down pipe is that on some trucks you loose a little bottom end torque , that is mostly on the stock trucks but I don't think there are to many of them out there
