    New EBP sensor (Tom)

    Tom,
I noticed that you got a new EBP sensor for your 6.0L. Can you give any feedback on how it is working out? I have had a slight turbo surge problem when the engine is cold. I have read that the new EBP sensor is supposed to help with that. Were you having a similar problem?

My surge was hot. Usually after a hard pull or drag race scenario.
The new part is actually the same part # but with different interals (titanium).

I was getting a "ghost code" PO299. Well, I guess it wasn't really a ghost code if the part was showing incorrect voltage, eh?

My EBPS was reading 13.0 volts at idle and the other sensors were baselined at about 13.6.

This caused the error and subsequent idle surge.

Also, it was quiet on throttle tip in. All problems are solved now, though.

I am told my truck (10/03 build) never had pilot injection, but...the people that tell me this are WRONG. lol

Now, I have just a quiet idle by a 30% or so opened EGR that snaps shut when the ebps senses pressure.

Cool. Thanks for the info. It sounds like some of the problems that I have. It would idle really quiet when it had this problem. It was almost like it was running rich. If I shut it down and restarted, it would be back to normal. The SES light would also come on for no reason and turn back off after about a day. Maybe this new sensor will take care of it.

We got ours changed for surge, but had to wait till it happened every morning so that the tech. could drive it and verify the problem. It was just a slight surge at a low, steady RPM, just after reaching operating temp. Shutting down and restarting would get rid of it, and it wouldn't happen again till the next morning even if the truck sat for several hours. Haven't seen it since.
