    Hard Starts when its cold...

Both batteries are fine, fact just replaced one a few weeks ago. The other last September.

I'm going to assume since its a cold issue and starts fine once its warmed up its a glow plug issue?

Also I have never replaced them but should I replace or upgrade by battery cables?

Hello ive had 6/7.3s in my past n still running 4 in my fleet, it sounds like u got a issue that i delt with several times on my trucks
heres wat ive done: first cheak that the glow plugs are working with a test light if all is good cheak the glow plug realay if its clicking its working if all is good at this point my first time i had bills from techs that said the motor was shot or needed a pcm or bad oil or bad fuel, all that aside i had to plug my truck in at 20 above tempratures just so itll start...
i then went to a tech witch is the same tech im still useing to date n he changed out all 8 injectors with new ones(reabuilds are fine to) n it now starts at -20(im in Canada) with out been pluged in n runs 100% with fuel economy back to normal, sence then all my 7.3s at about the 300 000 to 400 000 KMs(im in Canada) not miles they get to be hard starting n we put in injectors n its a new truck again..... Good Luck

My truck has a hard time also and only in the cold. But I also have a code in ( P0683....Glow plug module to pcm communication circuit ). Other than that she starts just fine......

My '02 7.3 SD is getting progressively harder to start, i.e. longer cranking. I did a search, & a common response is to test the Glow Plug relay. I have a CA emissions model, so it's the alum. box on the valve cover.

How do you test this relay? I don't have a CEL. I just really hate to shotgun parts at the truck.........

    Sorry for the highjack

Have you tested the voltage on the batteries with a load tester? My truck started crank longer than usual and one of the batteries had a dead cell. Check your battery connections and battery cables.

Checked the batteries the other day, they were good. BTW, They are only 6 months old (i know that doesn't mean much anymore).

    Thanks,
