I've had a 2001, 4x4, 7.4 for 5 years now and always got on average, 16-17 miles per gallon. It's has 160,000 on it and very well taken care of. Starting about a month ago, it dropped to 12-13. It still runs strong and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Any idea what might be going on?

it could just be winter blend fuel... i know i would get less MPG during the winter time then during the rest of the year
Someone mentioned that to me the other day, but I've never had an issue with winter fuel before. Well, maybe there was a little that went unnoticed, but nothing like I've got going on now. I've tried different fueling places out of curiosity with no difference. It's been going on now for two tanks so far. A head scratcher.
Have you had any work done to the truck lately? Around 160K things may need replacing that would effect mileage. Up-pipe leaks, intercooler/turbo boots leaking, fuel filter, air filter, tire pressure. I lost about 2 mpg and found a paper towel in my air filter box.

The filters have recently been changed and tire pressure is good. I'll have the others looked at to see if all is OK. I'll let you know what I find.
