    Oil Question Cold Weather

Its getting colder up here in Ontario.

What does everyone think about using a good 10w30 in the 6.0 instead of the 15w40 that is recomended. The truck is not used for heavy duty and sits more than gets driven. It has 125000 miles and is a 2006.

Good to see you again tinker. Has your truck been doing well since you changed your IPR?

10w30 is fine in very cold climates. 5w40 is fine too. Whatever you use be sure it's got a API rating of CJ-4 or better, such as Rotella T5 10w30 or T6 5w40.

Thanks Steve, the trucks been running great all summer hauling 4 Belgian horses and a bunch of other horses, all over the place. We had a little SNOW the other day, so its time to ready the truck for the winter......... Have a great day.

I want to say my oil is 0w40.. But it might be 5w40. I also have a 7.3 but I dont see why it would be any different.. Unless someone knows something I dont. (Very possible.)
