Factory Tech valve body on a Torqshift?

Does anyone know if the valve body on the new Torqshift trans is the same as the 4R100? A friend bought a 2005 model and was wondering if he could upgrade the trans with a Factory Tech VB

Well with the 5r110 being a 5spd trans and the 4r100 being a 4spd trans, I don't think I would like to know what happens when the valve body tries to shift into 5th

Good point. You can probably tell that I don't know much about automatic transmissions .

The extra shift is just a convertor lockup and not actually a shift. The valve body is different because it is controlled totally by electric solenoids. I THINK

I think all the new generation ford 5 speed trannies have a double second gear so there are 5 speeds. I just selects which ever one is most appropriate to the conditions. It has a higher 2nd for high rpm passing gear kickdown or the low 2nd for close ratio drag race mode on full accel from a stop. This is how the explorer one works and i have driven 6.0's but I didn't count the shifts. How many gears does it have on the stalk?

It's technically a 6 speed. There are two second gear ratios.
    Pretty trick, really.

First, there is no valvebody. The trans is controlled by shift
solenoids only. The trans does have six ratios depending on
    temp it will make a 1-1 o/d 2 3 4 5 or 1 -2 -2o/d 3 4 5 then
lockup.I have tested A lot of programers/modules on the black truck and have some advise maybe that will help.Sure
the trans can be made stronger inside but the real key is
presure rise. All OF THE PLUG IN MODULES DO NOTHING TO HELP
THE TRANS!The real test is to hockup a presure gauge to the trans you will see what I mean.I have found The Diablo to work well with It's own power, but when adding extra power it cannot see it and the trans does not have enough line presure.
I have found the superships programer to work very good when
stacking modules it raises line presure about 60lbs at full
power. This enough to break the tires loose in the first two gear changes.I just finished the little red truck trans, when
Brian_C gets a chance to drive it maybe he will post!

    Hope I helped!

John that is a great explanation of how the trans shifts and what effects the programers have on it.

    Thanks

I can't wait to drive it John! It should be great, and I will definitely post the results.
