    Replacing Ball Joints 2000 F350 4X4

I am finally fed up with the poor/hard stopped steering in my F350 and I am going to replace my original 2000 Ball Joints.

I would normally use Moog parts but my parts connection is no longer available, now it's...well not full price, but more than usual.

Should I use the Moog, Napa or AutoZone BJ's? The NAPA stuff looks pretty good too!

    Looking for your suggestions.

Hers the ford oe part numbers to do the job correct. I would only recommend oe parts for this repair.
    BC3Z3050B lower ball joint
    4C3Z3049DB upper ball joint
    F81Z1S175HCA inner dust seal
    F81Z3254CB hub seal
and you will need special tool to install seals from ots or snap-on

None of the above. Only use Spicer.
I don't think ball joints will help your hard steering issue. That gets into hydro-boost and power steering. Look into a Red Head steering box or hydo assist from ORU.

I used the Moog joints and so far so good. Would have loved to do the Dynatrac BJs but didn't have the funds at the time.

Welcome to guzzle's 4x4 Needle Bearing Maintenance Web Page

That article will get you most of the way through the job and he lists the parts needed to make the seal driver that you will need. Its a whole lot cheaper than buying a seal driver unless you just feel the need to have it.

Thanks guys. As for steering I have an AGR Pump and Gear I did several years ago, it's better, but still need the ball joints IMO.

They are the non lubable oe in a 4X that have been submerged and the likes for the past 11 years and (only)60K miles and not able to add grease to displace water and lubricate they get rusty and stiff.

I also pull a large 5th wheel so it ALL helps!

    Thanks

Have never tried spicer ball joints. Installed customers provided after market ball joints a few times but they dont have the service life of Ford oe replacment ball joints. My only input is from the front line. A ford tech from 1996 current. Have never done oe ball joints twice. As a former Ford dealer tech I admit I am biased towards Ford parts.

Spicer makes the OEM ball joints and U joints for Ford and Dodge and others that use Dana-Spicer axles. When you get them under the Spicer lable they are much cheaper than under the Ford or Mopar parts system.

Do the oe ones have zert fittings?
    Who carries a Spicer brand?

    What is the cost?
The ones from NAPA are about 78 for a lower and 43 for an upper.

Most of the Spicer joints do not have greese fittings, but just like the OEM stuff they last. The U-joints don't have greese fittings because that would make them weeker.
I get my Spicer stuff from a local drivetrain shop but several places on-line have them like 4wheelparts and Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. I got my last set of ball joints for my D60 front end from Custom Axle Components & Gear - Mad 4 Wheel Drive The joints were for my Dodge but they were marked Ford Motor company.
