The high dollar trucks are running blow off valves to keep surging down and to keep compressor speed up. The problem is, they use a microprocessor to control a solenoid valve to actuate. The doodad is basically using a signal from the TPS to determine when you're backing out of the throttle. So, that being the case, why couldn't you use an external wastegate assembly instead? Those are set to dump exhaust gasses at an adjustable boost pressure, so it should be able to bleed excess pressure from the intake stream. Put simply, when the manifold pressure spikes, instead of bleeding exhaust to atmosphere, it would bleed the overboost. My thinking may be all kinds of wrong, but I don't see any obvious reason it would not work. I am not to the point of needing anything like this, not yet anyways. If things go well though I hope to be tinkering with turbos in the next few months.
