had some puking issues with the truck and needed to get the truck fixed before it escalated.
with help from mikey (bigrpower), tadd and the fellas at elite, and also sunrise ford for the gaskets.
enjoy...
cab ready to come off
it was a pain till i get to the front body bolts, but they came off
before dissasembly
blown bellows, and old factory down pipe
turbos and all the piping off, along with the fuel system
heads and all that good stuff finally off...
gaskets did show signs of them being compromised. the new ones are a revised version from ford
heads are back along with hardened valve seats, new seals and bigger valve springs and retainers...pretty much a fresh beefier head that are held down with elite head studs
it took quite a bit of grinding to the injector hold downs, but they are in and gapped so they dont hit the new larger vavlve springs. also, brand new injector fuel lines, fuel rails and everything is ready for the valve covers to go back on.
new driver side up pipe with new EBP sensor location and all the new plumbing for the new-ish (thanks mikey) wastegate and full EGR delete. also along is a new 2 piece 4" down pipe installed and plumbed to go where the factory one once was
my boost source for my wastegate, notice the bung welded to the hot side pipe...i like cleanliness and minimum visual stuff
revised CFM+ adapter plate from elite. the older one had some seepage and made quite a mess! the new one is a same design plate, but with a groove on the top to take fords rubber "o" ring gasket. works like a charm!!!
cabs down, fluids are topped off. i also put in 2 new t-stats for sh!ts n giggles because of the prior puking
now the TRUE test! i had put on almost 250 miles before i left, but this would either make it or break it!
1200 miles later and the truck runs like a TOP!!! had a small glitch in santa fe, however, where my EGT sensor took a dump and caused low boost. luckily i was 30 min away from a ford dealer and played "parking lot mechanic"...1 hour or so later i was good and back on the road!
this was all quite an experience, and i was glad to do the work on my own truck
