    DIY lift blocks

I made a set of 6" lift blocks for my 2001 to replace the two blocks i had stacked together to level out my truck. i could not justify spending 100plus for a set of already made blocks. First i found some scrap aluminum pieces at my local steel yard...it was the right width at 3" but it needed to be cut to size, for both 5" long and 6" tall, for ths i used my band saw. Then i had to drill a 5/8" hole exactly in the center for the pin. i chose to drill all the way thru the block and use a 6" long x5/8"dia. grade 9 (f911)bolt for the pin. if u cut the bolt the same length as the block it will drop in the hole on the rear axle housing and leave just enough space at the top for the pin on the leaf pack to drop into. i cut the heads off the bolts using a grinder with a cutting wheel and they were ready to install. here are a few pics of the process pretty easy really, only took about an hour to make the blocks from start to finish. quite a mess of shavings though from just 2 holes... i paid 39.00 for the metal, and 9.00 for the bolts. enjoy
