My friend has a 1997 ford mustang automatic trans. She said that it has an intermittant no start issue. The other day she called AAA and they were able to get it started in neurtal. To me it sounds like a switch. Any suggestions????????? Karl TIA

sounds to me like it is the switch on the transmission. Had a friend that ran into this problem with a different vehicle. Basically a safty switch to not allow it to start unless it is in park or neutral. Just throwing ideas out there. I cant remember if it is located on the trans or shifter linkage.

I can try to do some more research whenever I find time. But from what I have seen the switch is called the Neutral safty switch and is located on the side of the transmission where the shifter linkage meets up. Dont take this as ford mechanic bible! Just what I have seen so far, you should be able to find out more with a Chiltons or Haynes manual. Hope this helps some.
