So I have had an intermittent issue with my E4OD going into a safe mode. The light starts blinking and the shifts are hard. What signals does the transmission get. Where is a good place to start testing signals? What is common with this symptom?

I can not give you any tech data. All I know is my 2002 would tend to find safe mode when I manually deactivated o/d or shift manually while towing 10k plus pounds. My solution... Shut down and restart. Has worked every time, 5+. Dont forget to cool your turbo first.<5 min.

I can reset it by pulling the battery but like i said its intermittent. Have you had anyone look at it? Cool my turbo?
Sounds like a different problem than mine. All I had to do was shut down and restart. It only happens to me when I am manually shifting while pulling a full capacity load. Since my truck is working hard when it happens I let it idle for a few minuts to let the turbo cool. Probably not necessary for a ten second restart but I error on the side of caution. The turbo is so hot running wide open throttle if you just shut it off and leave it off it will burn the oil to a crisp leaving a burnt varnish on all lubricated surfaces resulting in early failure. I have never had to disconnect my battery to cure the light blinking.

Gotcha. Sometime it goes away when I restart but usually its a reset.. Thanks for the input.
