Good thread as any to shoot this Q out there... I have heard Stanadyne from a few people... I have run a few different additives myself. I ran the Lucas Oil crap and was not at all impressed, ran the Ford Powerstroke ULSD additive with mild results... And I have ran what I currently run, which is Redline 85 plus, and I have seen good improvements in power and mileage when used with this crappy california diesel. If there is something better out there, please do let me know yall. I saw the additive lab test results on here a while ago that said Bio-diesel was the best way to go, but XDP or whatever it is is suppose to be the best additive. And then I saw another thread where some guys were sayin that XDP is the same stuff that RBP labels, and that RBP is made by power service products.... So is Diesel Kleen + Cetane Booster the way to go? Matty? Gene? What do you guys think? I trust yall like it's coming straight out the powerstroke dictionary!

diesel kleen is pretty good. i don;t run it every tank. but every once in awhile when i want my fuel system to be cleaned out a bit i pour a whole bottle in one tank.than i keep it up puting stanadyne lubricity formula in the tank there after.

    just my .02 cents.

The only reason I wont run the optilube is the cost per tank. it is just too expensive and that is why I stay with my 2 stroke premix from walmart. Go for it and see how it works for you. I am curious to see the results.

Thanks mattymx, this is exactly what I was hoping for when I started this thread. Hard data like this allows us to make our own informed decisions. Having so many viable options is one of the things that make the diesel engine wonderful in my mind. :waytogo:

Yeah, this is the test I was saying I had seen. But then I was looking at another thread where I believe it was you matty, and maybe gene? that were saying that the optilube is the same stuff that is made by service products? Or did I read incorrectly?

That would be Power Service and their Diesel Kleen product. it is relabeled as quite a few other additives, such as the RBP.

I use 1 ounce for every gallon of fuel that I add at every fill up. What I do is get the gallon bottle of oil at walmart. I then fill empty 16oz water bottles with the oil and keep them behind the seat. Before I fill up I pour in the oil in each tank and then top it off with diesel to mix it all up. The 16oz bottles are just the right size for the OBS truck so I add 1 per tank. Dont worry about having too much oil. it wont hurt a thing.

and if you have a SD truck, then just add 2 bottles that are 16oz on a nearly empty tank and you are good to go.

Nope. Optilube is only optilube. Diesel Kleen from Power Service is what is relabeled and sold as other products such as the RBP , NAPA, and CarQuest additives.
