Bed removal

Do you know anyone who has removed the torx bolts holding the bed on. If so, did they have problems removing the bolts? Need names, etc. <font color="yellow"> <font color="yellow">

They have preset nuts on the bottom. Once broken loose they should spin right out.
An air gun might help if needed. Carefully not to strip the tork screw.
I think it takes a T45 tork bit but I can not check it right now I have wood stacked on top of them.
If you don't find out I will be able to check tomorrow.

Re: Bed removal

When I had my bed liner sprayed in, the guy removed the bolts to avoid getting them all full of the liner spray. I watched him do it. He used a ratchet wrench with a torx socket to loosen them, and then an electric drill with the torx socket to unscrew them out.

Looked real easy to me!

I've seen a posting on the "other" site about a stripped torx bolt in the bed...was this your post??

For a stripped torx bolt, I've used a cut off disc grinder to cut a slot across the bolt head, and then use a huge screw driver or metal plate with a wrench to turn the bolt.

I used a T-50 Torx bit.
It think a 45 might "fit" but be too loose and possibly strip them.
Don't forget to remove the brake light wires, grounding strap and gas fill assembly.

One trick to deal with the "locktite from hell" is to heat the bolt with a propane torch just enough to get a little smoke. This softens the stuff up so the bolt can be easily removed.
